flipping lights tonight. any tips!?!?!

i am flipping the lights off tonight come midnight. are there any tips or tricks for me. this is my first run.

i am only turning off the light. I have a titan power strip and the only thing i have on the timed switch is my light. the fans (small thin floor oscillating, 6inch air king, and my 4inch vortex) will be running constant 24/7 right?

so, turn the lights off, keep the fans runnings, i will also have my bubbler running 24/7.

i am also going to keep my MH in for the first couple weeks to minimize stretch. then put in my 400hps. does this sound like a good plan or should i just go ahead and put in my hps?

i have been feeding roots organic buddha grow, EJ catalyst and cal/mag every other feeding. what should my ferts being moving forward? should i just begin with roots organic buddha bloom? i will continue to use the EJ catalyst.

i also have some sunleaves jamaican guano. how should i use that stuff? i have a bottle of fox farm big bloom. that shit any good?

hey paully- about an hour after lights out, go and stand for several minutes in your grow room. then do a slow 360 looking for any light. its amazing how easy it is to overlook a little light on a power cord or a humidifier. i run mh for the first 10-12 days of flowering. i also continue my grow nutes for the first 1-2 weeks depending on the strain.

just flip the schedule. no tricks necessary. just do it. however, good call on the light leak check^^
good to keep ventilation going 24/7. which is all depending on your setup, temps, humidity, etc. but constant airflow is ideal.

and yes, i would use the hps right away. mh for veg.

not sure what soil youre using, and i havent used any of the listed stuff youve got besides the p guano which is great stuff when used correctly. but i would switch to using bloom ferts a week, maybe two into flower.

i would give better explanations as to what soil you use, etc to get better help with your fert situation.

hope that helps, maybe just a little.

i am using FF happy frog with 2tbsp of dolomite lime per gallon. also cut with an additional 1/2 cup or so of perilite per gallon of soil. the run off is usually 6.2-6.4

i have a dr90II tent that is light proof. the tent is in the basement with all the small little basement windows covered with panda poly. i do have a 15watt cfl sitting on top of my humidity dome for my cuttings. about 5 days into them with no signs of roots. i think what i will do it just simply put it on the ground, cover with a cardboard box to elimnate 95% of light. this will prevent any light penetration into my tent

Just remember its night periods that matter to the plant, not day periods. As long as they get 10-12 hours of darkness a night they are good.

I have been in tents for years. Ive run a lot of different plants, as long as they get 10 uninterrupted hours of darkness, they are great.

So for instance, if i set my lights to go off at 12am and come on at 12am, i can actually work inside the tent from 12am til 2am. (Im vertical, so working with the HID on is basically an impossibility.) If i have to work until 3am, all i have to do is wait until 1pm til the lights come on (then back to 12am 12pm is perfectly fine), the essential thing is 10 hours of uninterrupted darkness. (I have pushed it to 9.5 hours many times, but try to stay with 10 hours.)

On a tangent but related, its possible to grow with a 21:30/12 photo period (roughly 5 dark periods per week) or 7:30/12 (or something close to that; which is 9 dark periods per week). The former is to maximize photosynthetic time, and the latter is to speed harvest. I have also seen people grow 13/11 with no problem, which inspired me to experiment with 2 hours of very low light + 12/10, which has been fine for the last 3+ years. I dont do it every night, maybe 2-4 times a week.

I started a thread about this in the experimental or advanced subforum, i can remember which.

For 3 years of DWC, I ran bloom 6pm to 6am. LOGIC> it is the coolest part of the day but found that, here in florida, in the winter, the home AC didnt kick on at night when outside temps were below 72F, tent temps rose dramatically and needed supplimental portable AC in the room in addition to the household AC: at a cost of around $300/18months for a new portable.

Now, growing verticle/passive, lights run during daytime: ON at 6am and OFF at 6pm. NO PORTABLE! There are fewer chances of light leaks, home AC runs every hour during lights on. It also has me able to be inside the tent when I am normally awake. Down side is that any service activities required in the house happen with lights and FANS on. The drone might spark intrest by the service person< not wanted, I'll turn lights/fans off when they are there.
