What's new

dont i just need lights????

obviously i know that a lot more is needed than lights, but after reading a lot of posts on grow designs i am lost. so i am setting up my grow room and it is a well ventillated basement. i have marked off a 12x12 room that i want to have 6 dutch master hydro buckets with 4x t5 soft white for veg above each and than i will switch them to red when i want them to flower.

i want to do big bud and a mix pack to start with and i am just going to use the basic nutes.

what do i need carbon filters for? since i am not very worried about the temperature because i am using compact flor what kind of air cooling will i need?

Carbon filters hide/remove the stinky smell for security purposes. Some strains are stinkier than others.

You may be able to get away with just an exhaust fan to take out the hot air, depending on the climate and the room itself.

if youre going the minimalist approach, yes. But you will NEED a few other things.

Circulation Fan for air movement.
As mentioned, Carbon filter which means you will also need an inline... or a Stanley Blower.

If you plan on doing this in just an open area, you will need to enclose the area so that that you can effectively "scrub" the air of the smell.

It is as simple or as complicated as you want.

Ever play Monopoly? Remember the Chance card that reads:

Go to JAIL! Go directly to JAIL! Do NOT pass Go! Do NOT collect $200!

If getting that card makes you go, "Well, foo!" Then, you want a carbon filter.

The #1 safety rule is - Don't Tell. Smelling is worse than telling, smelling is advertising to everyone in the neighborhood!

is this for a personal grow or are you trying to make money here....highly doubt a CFL grow in a 12x12 area is gonna give you any kind of decent results...

i read a post from someone recently over in the vertical forum, they said "environment over lumens"....

climate control = humidity, temps, air movement, etc.....the most important underrated aspect of growing.

your room will become a stale humid mess without any kind of air circulation.....a nice can filter not only kills the smell of flowering nugs, it also replaces the air in your grow room 4x a minute keeping that air nice and fresh...

This is totally too true. Google VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) If your not in the proper range, it gets real ugly real fast.
