How do you spot mildew (not mold) and how dangerous is it?

I was wondering how exactly someone identifies mildew in bud. Is it just from the smell you get when you open the jar? Some of my friends weed he was curing I thought smelled a little mildewy, he left the jars open overnight for 2-3 days and they smell better now, but not great. I was wondering, is bud like this dangerous to smoke for any reason? Do you think it would be good to totally dry it out instead of trying to cure it further?

Hey you..

You will see some white or black spots in your buds very early.if you close the jar,s to early..i have smoke lots of buds with Mold in-and i have some prob with an infection..i can get rid of it-have been sick now for 6 years..have visited many sorts or doctor,s..but i never told them,i smoked weed with Mold in-only i have smoked MJ for about 25 years...
They said-that would not give that sort of infection-in the skin as i have,,,BUT mabye the mold had done it ?
I dont do it again..dont closed the jars to early.

I appreciate the response, but I think you are speaking of mold, right? I'm talking about mildew, like if you leave a wet towel on the floor in the bathroom overnight, that mildew fart smell. No visible signs of trouble.

But i have smoke both kind of mold-to say it,as it are..it,s still mold both...

I,m just thinking-Mildew your normally seen a lots before the plants,is getting finished,many people is fighting with those.
it,s starts as a little white dusty spots,on the leafs and on the-hm them the leafs hanging on-cant that word.So it,s spreading
to all the other leafs and plants to..so i can only see-it,s normally "mold" you got in your weed,if you close your jars to early.
Many have talked about in here about,is it dangerous to smoke or not-some said it goes in your lungs.
I have smoke a lot with Mildew and mold in-have no problem at all with my lungs-have smoked daily for about 22 years-together 25 years.I dont do it anymore-it,s not that worth,if you got sick..
Mildew is growing into the plants,if you take clones from a plant with PM,you will get it again--some says you can use this and that-try to read about ? im using UV-C light for dont get it..
Tried the best i could-and yes-mold and PM is in the Fungusfamily both as many others fungus we have in our world.i dont think the world could stay-without them..you also got those on and in your skin..no more from here : )

I never Knew that, thanks, is it like mildew is a less dangerous form of mold? Will letting it dry out really well get rid of mildew, at least mildew without visible signs? any ideas on what to do with it besides get rid of it as that is not really much of an option, nobodies going to be smoking this stuff but me.

PM/powdery mildue is a white dust like fungas that spreads from plant to plant if left uncheched...There are differant chemicals that will kill and stop the spread of this disease..Botritious is the fuzzy black/gray mold that eats/kills buds..If you have this form of mold your F'ed.Eradicate and kill infected material immedeatly.

All the buds of this one type would puff white mold spores when we'd rip into one of them. I wanted to smoke this stuff so bad, now I have an infection in my lungs because of this shit.

I'm used to dealing with made up garbage nonsense that prevents me from smoking bud, now I have to watch as my friend throws out 4 ounces of amazing weed for perfectly legitimate reasons...

Powdery mildew can be checked easily. It can also be a warning about the possible development of black mold. All that is necessary for the mold is the airborn spores. By the way, smoking pm or mold can't be good for you.....just sayin

no, it's not good at all, looks like another reason why weed being illegal is dangerous. My buddy is new to this, and he can't make a living out of this unless he wants to start a criminal enterprise... so I inhale a ton of mold.

he jarred it up too quick and left the jar sealed a little too long. He was trying to perfectly cure it, but I told him he should focus on drying them out more, he thought it felt dry but one of the plants was only drying for about 2 days!

2 weeks later I smoke some and I'm still getting over that, I'm much better now though
