Found Lighting Treasure (kinda)

Went out and through my Old'r Reef keeping stuff. Thinking never know, i, at one time had ALLOT of gallons of Living coral. 3000+ in house alone.

So digging through the stuff i found 2
(That's 4 96watt bulbs total......)

2 x 96watt PL-L ballast. And wires. They both cleaned up nice.
So that's almost 400 watts of 5500k 92 Cri COOL light.
20,000+ lu'

The company that made these was tops in the industry until he decided to call it quits. These are sealed ballast, with on off switches, and wiring for end caps. This is no home built kit, these cost over 200 a pop!
Custom sea life was the brand.

But, i have a little more room to cover (height) , so they just might have to sit :comfort::comfort:

Because i'm looking for a new sun system 2 reflector/hps ballast kit (switchable) to run 1 CMH Phillips! :)

I guess what i'll do is wire these up with new end caps, and wait!

Too bad, they would be AWSOME for someone with a CAB grow.
Less heat then t5's, you can shield these with clear tubes and a plant can grow around the bulb, happy as a clam!

the bulbs are 34" long! I dont have bulbs, but these are the good ones to buy.....http://www.ahsupply.com/bulbs.htm

Search out PL-L bulbs now you know, for a long thread about why
these are better then t5 and twist compacts.....We have known these things rock sense the late 90's, in reef keeping!

If i had to grow plants into my bulbs due to height issues, or wanted my plants right up to the reflectors.......these win hands down, no contest! Vertical, in tubes..........WoW!

But i'm shooting light from high up, so i need the HID umphhhhh!

Thanks all!

A few years ago I went looking for info on how light works (in terms a high school drop-out could understand), when I came across Sanjay Joshi's articles. As good an explanation, in lay terms, as I have found! Never having had any experience with fish tanks, it never occurred to me that aquarists would be a great source of that info!
