FUJI FinePix S4000 14MP a good camera?

So Im looking to upgrade from a shitty old point an shoot to a somewhat nicer camera. I see the FUJI FinePix S4000 14 MP camera has a nice price and says it has 30x zoom.

I know nothing about cameras, could anyone tell me if this is a good camera? or recommend a good one under $500?

I really just want to be able to take really nice, clear bud pics, I might use it for other shit too but mainly just to photograph my plants.

500 is a really good budget for a camera..

$650 is a bit better, Nikon D3100.

get a real camera from a real camera company, Fuji is a fine film company that jumped on the digital camera bandwagon.

Olympus, Minolta, Canon, Leica & Hasselblad are others.

Yeah I was looking at the D3100, the only turn off is the reviews I read said the lense it comes with is not that great and I'd probly have to buy another one at like $250-300. By that time I'll have spent near $1G :chin:

I have been using a Finepix S1000 for a couple years. It is a fabulous camera for the $189 I paid for it. Takes great macros with very little effort.

Thanks for you post, the price is definitely nice, I found an S4000 on sale for $300 including a tripod, case and memory card. I just need a camera that will take nice clear pics but I don't necessarily need the best, just the best for my price range.

if your comparing a point and shoot to a DSLR apples/Oranges even if the lens it comes with has bad reviews it should work better then a point and shoot. Also most DSLR can use other lenses like Sigma they have some nice lenses for a lot less money
