LST'ing in Fabric Pots

Hello again everybody - I'm sitting here about to give the plants a nice spray down and am trying to figure out the best method of LST'ing plants that are in a fabric pot such as a Geopot or Smartpot...I don't want to use duct tape as I saw on another site, looked horrible, but at the same time don't think I have the patience to try a needle and thread method either...

Ideas?

I use those heavy-duty black paper clips with the silver handles on them, then route the tie-down thru the handle.

I saw some dude using those strips of velcro...sticks right to the pot...looked like it worked pretty good and didn't mess up the pots. I used to use green twist ties and poke little holes in the pot.

Horticulture Velcro - 75' x 1/2" is around $2.50 at Home Depot, Lowe's, mainstream nurseries.

One thing is that the this Velcro sticks to the outside of the pot if you're using the SmartPots' product specifically. Another fabric container that is from SunLight Mfg. (I can't remember the actual name) and which are square, the material on the outside will not cause the Velcro to 'stick' but rather you have to use on the inside wall of these pots.

This is what I've been using for a couple of years and it works very well.

This is the best post I have seen today. Perfect solution at a cheap price. +K

You can also close the clip itself around a stem without harm, to train stems around the brim of a container or to a bamboo skewer. These paper clip/spring clips come in multi-color packs. I have a multi-strain grow and use different color clips and corresponding color pipe cleaner ties for each different strain in the garden. The identifying color flash really helps me keep track of plants.

Re: LST'ing in Fabric Pots

I used top do all sorts of things..now a days I simply crush the stems and fall then over, in a week the crushed dot is heeled like nothing happened and I get what I want with minimal trouble..

For LST, I use the nursery green plastic twisty ties sold in 10" lengths.
Hundreds of them in a package.
I generally cut into half or quarters and use shorter lengths.
I use the stem, not the pot as the anchor and then do an upside down "U" to bend the tallest branches lower than the general canopy.
I'll do 10-20 bends at a time.
This coupled with major fan leaf removal makes for a light accessible plant.

Crushing the hull is great for final canopy placement.

I would think you could just use safety pins to attach string to the pots, i prefer to put a stake in each pot, and twist tie to that, after. Crushing the stem a bit
