Haze Veg Day 5

Haze Veg Day 5

And here's the roots, right on time at 5 days, all thought not the fastest rooting specimen of this variety i have ever had. The PH was really off when i checked the veg system, 4.3 upon checking today. That is really weird and im not sure if i fucked up or if there is something insidious growing in my water. I did a full flush either way and added back fresh water and a heavy inoculation of AquaShield for good measure. ill check the conditions of the res tomorrow, experience tells me it should be around 6.5-6.7 after 24 hours, if its drastically lower, gentlemen we have a problem.

good news people. the PH was checked in the grow room and found to be 6.4. PPM is my regular tap water reading at 190 (@ .5) ish. no funky growth or at least the reading suggest this. it must of been a nute application error on my part. so i added 20 ML grow and am waiting for it to mix in the solution then ill check PH and PPM again before tossing in the cal mag just to be safe.

Edit :

6.0pH 340ppm adding +20ML Veg Ionic

5.9pH 390ppm adding +20ml Cal Mag

Whats up Chomp!!!

your killing it man in that little cab of yours. Im getting my shit together finally and trying to get the once per month harvest rolling. The problem is the plants keep over growing the space. its not the wost problem to have but the double gum is almost perfectly sized. i would prefer three to 4 inches shorter over all. and i'm going to flower the haze clone WAYYY early. like within the next 4 days or so after a topping tomorrow.

Ill have an update this weekend of whats going on. but i got a suspicion there will be no chop until next week....

Hello Hazy i cannot even think tour yields with more space and lights your dry harvest
look delicious and your double gum really rocks .I am thinking why you are trying to
match the lucas graph with floranova or Ionic and not using the Lucas formula.

I am closing down in a few weeks for summer and i was thinking Amnesia Haze + OG #18
for the new crop after summer , what are you thinking about this strains ?
It is my first time with hazy strain and i am amfraid the streching , i will not
use a scrog screen but i am thinking to tie them down for controling height .
Any info about hazy strains from you will be a very good , keep it up ;)

Bonavendura-

I see what your saying about lucas, I understand why your asking why I'm not just using GH bloom and micro. i like the ability of the select ingredients i use to be able to tune, calcium/mag/iron, PK and N at the same time. it lets me screw around with the ratios at my leisure. Ionics NPK ratios wouldn't let me tune P without raising the K to ridiculous levels. so I'm seeking to patch that problem with the flora nova. i just want more control over everything.

It breaks down to this; 90% of not using GH has to do with my own stubbornness and wanting to be different then everyone else and head off into uncharted waters. i have learned alot more this way, trust me. but at the expense of the plants and my head stash once in a while.

the other 10% of not wanting to use GH/Lucas stems from a bad incident i had with GH micro about 6 years ago. see I didn't know how fast nutes expire over time......................................

I never used to check labels for batch dates and to given the right conditions bad shit will grow very well in GH micro. I took a load of Nutrients off my friends hands at a discount because he bombed hard.. Alot of B'cuzz additives and GH three part as well.

So I decided that i would use some of his micro to supplement my Ionic regiment and i lost an entire batch to the nastiest funk you have ever seen growing in water. i think i actually mentioned it in this thread a while back about watching ~6 square yards of meticulously manicured scrog screens go bust due to the evil root root. heart breaking to say the least. after that i invested in chillers and aqua shield to inoculate the water.

I want to state emphatically that i do not have anything against General Hydroponics. They make fine fine products and this was simply a very bad string of decisions.

About the Amnesia Haze.

i havent grown that specific strain. but i can give you an easy solution to the Sativa stretch problem. Less veg time. and more topping. YOU CAN NOT allow a sativa to just grow vertically in hydro. or she will make you pay dearly in head room. so i top aggressively at the 6-8th node and then top again a week or two later. but i would not veg for any longer then 3 weeks/18" or so which ever comes first. my haze will double in size as a minimum with the right light and space.

hope this helps, update coming soon of the double gum and haze clone. damn i love this stuff. the cure just makes it that much more killer.

Double Gum Harvest Day 71

Double Gum Harvest Day 71

well here she is minutes before chop time. the smell is very sweet with hints of fruitiness. this plant really really packed its self into the screen. i thought i was overly agressive taking out larf this time around and still managed a huge pile of hash bag food.

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

And after about two hours with the shears, all that remains is the skeleton, picked clean.

picture.php

The larf pile was rather large i will make sure to be even more aggressive in the future to take care of the bullshit at the bottom. i would rather have the 138g up top rather then in the hash bag. ive got some serious time to invest making hash. i havent even used the haze larf yet its all sitting in my freezer waiting for its date with the bubble bags o doom.

picture.php

Larf Wet Weight -
picture.php

Here is the overall shot of what was taken down.

picture.php

And heres the wet weights. Weighed with the stems on same as last time. this is a true 1 square foot plant, unlike the previous haze that kind of just helped its self to my entire flower room.

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

The total for those of you who dont want to bust out the calculator is 478.6g of high end stuff. over all im extremely pleased with the results from one square foot. we know from last time that this box and 2 square feet is capable of over a QP, with this new wet weight im going to assume max yeild at around 6 ounces dry if everything was perfect. I can tell you that any harvest in the near future will not be as abundant as these last two due to the temps rising outside. Im having a hard time keeping temps in the mid 70's so there will be some additional heat stress from here on out till fall.

And now onto manicured bud shots!

Thanks for stopping by Sarge and Chomp.

i doubt it will hit a QP. but over three that is for sure. i snuck a small piece of it last night and it was very nice. The flavor has yet to really come out so I'm going to give it a good cure before any smoke reports. the head is def there. nice couch lock.

stay tuned for a dry weight and final product shots. should be up ain a few days.

Keep em green

:respect:Whats up hazy,:respect: ,that double gum looks fucking fantastic!! I think you will hit over a qp. Looks like some top notch smoke for sure!:tiphat:

Dry Weight Is in for the Double Gum.

Dry Weight Is in for the Double Gum.

picture.php

Not fucking bad at all from a 12" X 12" screen. I'm honestly impressed that the over all yield jumped by so much with me turning the 400w HPS down to 300w with the lumatek. fucking stellar. The density has risen, which I'm sure is due to the strain and not so much changes in the system. i cant wait to have another go around with the DG. But Ive got another haze brewing for the flora nova test (did i mention this shit is like mud?) and an update is needed on that as well.

By the numbers:

97.2 /478.6 = 20.3% on density so the double gum waxes promising. like i said i cant wait to run her again!

Green.is.good and Sarge -

you guys were close, 3.47 oz is damn close to the QP, i just don't know if i can get there just yet using only a square foot, i would love to find out that a half pound is possible from 2 square feet, that is so ridiculously more then i ever dreamed possible.

Thanks to all who are watching, some photos to part with.

Day 7 Flower

Day 7 Flower

Well here is the new haze. i want to give a little background below on whats going on, as it all can be lost in my multiple postings while high and the pace that the work is being done at.

picture.php

Any way. the haze was placed as a clone in the veg system on 5/18/11. it took five days to set roots and was displaying little growth during that time. Once the roots peeked out of the net pot it was on like Donkey Kong. It was topped on 5/28/11 and and flipped to flower on 5/31/11. The plant from rooted clone is 20 days old! its been flowering for 7 of those 20 days and its gotten fucking large!

This Haze run is experimental in nature because the haze is a known quantity to me. I wanted to try out GH FloraNova as a base bloom nutrient. to see if there was any benefit, Its been a long while since I've switched nutrient horses mid river. for all i know the profiles I'm running could toast the plant. but we will see.

now that the overture is done let me start with this comment on the Switch to GH FloraNova Bloom:

picture.php

picture.php

I'm not a fan of the consistency and sediment. I'm largely scientific in nature with this set up and i use a measuring syringe with a tube attached to meter nutrients to the ML. I clogged it with this stuff after shaking furiously for 3 minutes. to the point that i couldn't push it out nore pull anything else in. and when i did get it unclogged it shot all over my fucking wall, which was awesome because it fucking stained my paint.. significant other is not happy. Bummer.

Then after figuring out a measure device to measure said mud accurately, that i had by chance laying around the house. I noticed that my water was DARK. really dark to the point I'm worried its gonna stain my roots brown and make it hard for me to detect any baddies growing in there early. i also noticed a shit load of sediment in the bottom of the bucket, which means that shit is in the bottom of my buckets in the system and in the hard to access reservoir...I never had to deal with this using Ionic... This is an experiment and for the sake of learning something i will forgo the initial " i hate it already" phase and trudge onward.

picture.php

The Nutrient PPMs have risen to over 800, i attirbute this to the added sulfur and trace nutrients - that handy sheet scrub ninja made is tits and shows this, and its accuracy is very close. within 100 ppm or so.

ROOT PORNZZZZ before being placed in the mud.

picture.php

ill keep you all informed of the switch to Flora Nova!:tiphat:

Quick Update on the FloraNova Switch, the specified rate in the graphs i posted is too high. I have not burned the plant but the PH has been steadily dropping over the course of the last few days. I drained 5 gallons out of the system and replaced with fresh water, that should give me 3/4 strength. ill keep you all informed of the progress.

Bubble hash run

Bubble hash run

So i decided to use some larf and turn it into some bubble. the yield wasn't spectacular. but i have multiple grades of bubble. so life is alright, i think, am i still alive? i cant remember anymore, what was i doing again....

my set up

picture.php

90 micron : This was heady heady shit, put my ass out.

picture.php

end results after processing the same high end larf twice. that 90 micron first run was the top left, none left, and nothing left to my Tuesday night either. some of the really small yeilding bags were consolidated. but the bottom left is the 90 micron second yield after frappe-ing the mixture to pulp. strangely enough there was not a whole lot in the 45 and 25 but the 90 and 73 was some bueno stuff.

picture.php

Here is the Flora Nova haze at Day 10 of flower. i like the color of her, but the nutrient mixture was on the heavy side and i had to back it down significantly. i will be running a 2/3rds mixture next res change to see where the PPMs need to be to keep PH rising a half point to a point a day.
