Sulfur helps with PM, not bud rot. It might even accelerate bud rot, I don't know. Humidity below 30% helps a lot. Keeping air moving through the canopy, silica supplements, and judicious pruning can help a lot. Low levels of ozone have completely eliminated it as a problem for me but can be hard to work with.

its also strain dependant..some strains are more prone to budrot....i ran blubonic side by side with my SFV OG kush...the blubonic top colas got botrytis in week 7 so i threw them out...meanwhile the SFV sitting right next to em had zero rot all the way into week 9i...and this tray sat a few feet away from a santa fe dehuey that kept humidity around 45..

purple is also mold prone...

I have this problem with chem 4 x sour some chem x sfv and any tight dence related indica type strains- thanks for all the help fellas!

As one of my first post, I hope I can contribute something meaningful to the ICMag group. I struggle for years with bud rot, aka boytris (the fungus has brought me to tears). After finally taking down spider mites and PM throughout the years, it seemed only bud root was the last obstacle in my conquest of destroying all enemies in the grow room. I have been using coco since day one, and I am a huge advocate of the medium...however, it has many problems, for instance, coco needs to be pretreated with calmag and silica, in addition to your desired nutrient line. I introduce a new dosage of calmag and silica during each new feeding. Lastly, I use a product called Actinovate. Please check out this product. I use this as both foliar and into the feeding. Since using these 3 main additions, I have yet to witness a case of bud rot. Thank the weed gods! Good luck!

Humidity and heat if you can controll these you should ne be getting Bud Rot. I have never had it.

Temps never go over 85f On the hottest days and humidity never gets above 45%. Most of the time Im running 77F 40%

I would just go on-line, amazon is a great place to start. Start with the small package first, see if you like it (goes for like $20). But just an fyi, Actinovate is a preventive not a reactive. Its also OMRI certified...

I would want to agree with you Hammerhead, but I had the unique opportunity of growing in warehouses in CO, where the humidity ranged from 10%-30%, and we still got bud rot! Needless to say it broke my heart. I would like to also agree with YesforProp215 (I have the biggest respect for you, really enjoy your post), and your reference to strain dependent, however with growing over at least 50 plus strains, one bud or another also contracted bud rot. It wasn't till I switched to this new method do I see not a single case of bud rot, and by the way, the room well exceeds over 50% humidity at any given point (I am a big believer of negative pressure, thus I rely on mother nature for my humidity levels).

I never had this problem when I was running A hydro- Drip system or soil mainly coco coir plants have molded up on me- WTF

For the longest time Chronicle, I thought I was the worst grower, I grew these amazing large buds, trichome galore, calyxes that look like a multi arm goddess...and then open it up to discover furry gray pubes...I have read so many books on the subject, hoping to finding the cure, my example that stood out the most, "bud rot is caused from nitrogen in-toxicity and calcium deficiency''. I also later read, that "other than oxygen, silica is the most abundant element in the earth"...hope this helps

the source of silica that mixes in the medium that I know are greensand and [ Rare Earth from General Hydroponics] Both maybe no more than a teaspoon a gallon to a tablespoon. As far as liquid silica you have rino shin from advanced. I have had good results with silica blast from botanicare , PROTEXT from dyna grow is not bad . I do not need the added potash as I have a good feed program already, based on the lucas.
