This is my view of the Seed(y) buisness.
there are one or 2 Breeders, and hundreds of seedmakers.
If you aint using 100s of plants to chhose tyhe best from out doors or under dozens of kw of lamps in warehouses AND travellingaround the world collecting from source countries((not either/or))-you are a seedmaker. Nothing wrong with being a seedmaker, just dont call yourself a breeder
That is all

I agree with the OP to a point.
I'm not sure about the lack of quality of genetics on the boo/bay, but some of the stupid ass crosses people come up with (bagseed x Lowrider) growing in their mom's basement makes me laugh.
Breeders hardly.
It's amazing every Cali dispensary has a romulan clone for sale.
Like PT Barnum said, "These's a sucker born every minute"

the more hacks we have, the worse off the plant becomes.
these days genes pass freely across all boundaries, worldwide.
eventually all we will have is one "mutt" strain to smoke, with slight variation.

just like us as humans, after years of crossbreeding all sorts of regions due to lack of seperation, we are changing as a species.
we will eventually all be chinese one day!

pot is on this same epic journey.

so, what you gotta ask yourself OP is this:
you gonna keep talking shit?
or man up and do something about it?

start collecting landraces and their seeds from all over the world.
preserve the different strains of cannabis.
learn to be a breeder and not a closet hack.
save the species

So a person who has grown and seen several thousand plants in a lifetime, has no clue what to look for, simply because they did not grow them at the same time?

Best genetics I own came from these closet hacks...and were free.

Trust...I know a good plant when I see one. So do they. Reminder. Everything being pumped out of A-Dam these days is trying to copy the bagseed plants of the last decade. You should be thankful you even get access to half the stock placed in the server fund....shows that the problem its you not knowing much about what is actually good...follow threads...see first hand what some of these folks are working with...

I am smart enough to know the bay has an Index with everything listed from Breeders to Unknown Breeders and tested to Untested seeds, so if you can't buy a strain you want for meds then you need to ask on this board, first breeder for me for meds comes to mind is BOG & so on and reading and doing some research you have choices and can either buy the product or do some research and look at the breeders feedback before buying your beans.

My opinion is we as a community shouldn't knock down a person because they don't have a question or comment you don't like and everyone deserves to be heard positive or negative without receiving negative rep that sucks so with that said let's act more civilized and repsect each others opinions and give our opinions without all the negative bullshit.

I buy Nirvana seeds and never had any problems growing their strains Aurora Indica is a great strain for pain and I plan on dropping some money very soon on some beens but I won't go crazy buying $200 a pack seeds when the new up & coming seed companies are blowing up some great beans for $50 a pack, we must support these new seed companies

:lurk:

I'll keep my mouth shut about the OP initial comments as if I spoke the ban hammer would hit me....needless to say I am very lucky to live in an area of Northern Cali (Santa Cruz) where I can go to more than a dozen breeders and get almost any genetic I need with complete confidence.

Now not everyone has that opportunity, and MOST of us don't have the resources to "travel the world gathering landraces and strains to develop our own ..that made me laugh).

I think an open forum free to discuss dissenting opinions is a great thing.

Aaaaach!
Why do you say that?
I bought some Sour Bubble recently, and was looking forward to some stellar herb.
Don't know about the #4 thing, but are you saying it's crap?
Lot's of people rave about it, hence my purchase.

I understand that.

But why not educate people so they have the best medicinal choices available?

Educating people is great, but people who don't care aren't going to learn anyways. I'm happy to try and teach anyone who's interested, but at the same time I'm not going to worry about some kid growing random crosses in his basement and calling it whatever he wants. I'm not buying from him, my customers aren't buying from him, basically he's outside the scope of the market that I choose to be involved in.

Obviously the people I do business with I'm going to hold to a much higher standard, and I think that's the most important factor in separating genetics/product/etc. in a professional manner.

I think basically my point is that the best way to ensure proper practices are followed, is to ONLY do business with people who follow those practices, and shunning everyone else from an economic sense. Don't worry about trying to convert every stoner on the planet to your point of view, probably a waste of time imho.

First of all, I think you're really stretching it when you say we have breeders growing plants in their parents homes..... I take it you have proof of this? Secondly, just because someone puts seeds for sale doesn't mean anyone's going to buy them......

And so you know, there are no seeds sold here that haven't been tested by numerous people. You don't just say "I want to sell my seeds" and get them listed..........
