you have two plants under a 1,000w hps? what size pots are they, how large are they? Depending on size your yield could be very affected by switching them. Those t8's arent going to give them the same light penetration to reach lower branches

at this juncture i could care less about a lower bud.i focus on the top stuff..i also lst and fim the shit out of em so they dont get very tall.if the buds arent gonna gain any more weight i need to move em..

leaving them with low light levels or none at all for the last week can give more resin and appear even more frosty for the lack of chlorophyll

imo, the first 2 weeks of 12/12 under "blue" light is beneficial for flowering. i am not sure about the last 2 weeks or so. perhaps the low-intensity light will help them mature better than under the HPS which tends to "dry" the top buds at times.

High temps and being too close to 1000 watter's causes dry buds. Blue is good for vegging, red and blue for flowering. Blue spectrum keep the plant compact in flowering. Red in flowering allows the plant to elongate. Its all about how light spectrum influence auxins. So in actually it goes in accordance to growers preference and limitations.

you may be right, although i have found that the top buds (even in a vertical light setup) "mature" faster and become drier quicker. the light in my set up is bare bulb hung vertically. most buds are about the same distance to the bulb.
i recently watched a video from an icmag member that demonstrated what the first 2-3 weeks of 12/12 with T5 can do versus HPS. the T5 plants had many more bud sites and looked happier overall.

i actually think its beneficial to shift the lights to blue spectrum and/or even lower the intensity at the last week or 2.
