Last night I woke up around 1am in the morning. I had an upset stomach and proceeded to the bathroom where I threw up. This happens fairly often to me so no bid deal so far. As I was getting back into bed I noticed my 3 year old bulldog Fiona was not acting normal. She was acting timid and twitching. At first I wasn’t sure if she was just dreaming or what, but as some time passed I knew something was very wrong. She was twitching every 5 seconds and couldn’t maintain her balance. I woke my wife up and heading to the emergency vet. On the way out the door we saw that Fiona had been in the garbage, and we figured she had eaten something that was poisonous.

The way to the vet is only a couple of miles away from our house, but it seemed to take forever to get there. (this is very reminiscent of how my last dog died. Gave her mouth to mouth on the way to the e-vet.) When we arrived the vet could tell she had injected a poison and decided to take x-rays right way. After x-rays, she advised us to give Fiona a charcoal drink that would help absorb any toxins. Then she would give her some kind of morphine to make her throw up the charcoal and any other toxins. After all this was done, Fiona was completely drained and had soiled herself several times.

After getting her home, at about 3:30am, we cleaned her up and put her on the bed. She didn’t move until I forced her to get up at 3pm to get her to eat and try to get her to drink. It is now 7pm and she has yet to drink any water, but she did eat some broiled chicken a little while ago. I was just hoping people could throw some warm fuzzy’s Fiona’s way. She has been a fan of IC for a long time now, and could use some love. Thanks everybody.

BTW - When vomiting was induced, nothing obvious was found. My worst fear would be somebody poisoning her because they don't like my outdoor plants. I grew last year and no problems, and my other dog doesn't have any issues. Just saying, that would be my worst fear.

Update: Fiona is looking much better today. She has been drinking water again and seems to be getting back to normal. Still very low energy and seems to be in a little discomfort, but all in all I think she will be back to new by Monday.

Thank you to everybody that dropped in, Fiona gives everybody a very wet dog kiss.

Glad Fiona is better, anyone that would poison a dog is the lowest kind of scum.

Glad she's feeling better. My compadre' here on the left would love to help her forget her miseries. Fwiw, if you need to make your dog vomit (obviously there are some things that shouldn't come back that direction), 3% hydrogen peroxide @ 1 teaspoon/10 lbs of body weight works very well. When this clown of mine decided that a dead, dehydrated, and probably poisoned mouse would make a nice snack, the peroxide got it back up in short order.

She's a beauty!

Me & Alice are sending some K9 karma to Fiona.

EDIT:
btw, a few yrs back Alice ate a tree frog that got in the house, made her sick as all get out for a couple of days. it might be as simple as that bro.

I'm so glad Fiona is doing better, this might not come out right but I sure hope it turns out to be an accidental poisoning because I sure HATE to think there's SCUM of the earth out there who'd do something to any innocent creature on this green earth.
Best of luck Fiona
