Posting pics properly?

Some time ago, in some thread...in the middle of the thread it went into how to properly post pics in regards to digital cameras, and phones.

I do recall someone mentioning, if you use Photoshop you can scrub that data away by saving for Webs and devices? I ask about PS, because its all I use during my day and this would be something easy for me to do, instead of having to DL some specific program to scrub the data.
Any suggestions regarding the PS thing? Id really like to share just a few pics around and its bugging me all to hell lol.

a program called JPEG & PNG Stripper.

Iphones and most fancy smart phones or cameras with GPS embed the location into each image taken.

the program listed will make a copy with scrubbed info

ive never used PS so idk.. but the program listed is EZ and secure according to all my stuff

okay i will check this out, and yes it is an Iphone im talking about, forgot to mention that.

i had a fellow member PM me my almost exact coordinates the other week when I posted a pic. Made me poo a little in my pants( this i know how to scrub). Nothing bad , just a nice wake up call.
I am still interested in some PS tips, if anybodys got them.

can't you just take a screenshot of the pics, then go on PS and press ctrl+V and then crop the image and save it? won't this scrub the info about where what camera and GPS co-ordinate info?

A member here?

Did you post the pictures in an album here on ICMAG or are they hosted on another site?

I'm pretty sure that uploads to albums here strip the data, which is called EXIF data. EXIF data can contain a wide variety of meta-data about the image, like the camera's settings at the time the photo was taken (exposure, white balance), camera serial number, name, gps coordinates, date and time, etc.

On almost any camera you can control the inclusion of personal data, and many image editing programs support editing and deleting EXIF data from images.

Now you see how it feels I asked a question & you call me pedobear, I brought up the fucking disgusting perverts getting caught on-line & you don't think before you post!
I think NSA can catch information & pictures being sent across the internet not even having to get into some bodys computer or the server, they have used 911 against common people, think about shit before you post!!!!!!!!:plant grow:

I know this was rumored to be true but last time I checked, ICMag does not strip pictures. I uploaded some pics, then redownloaded and used EXIF reader to check

Yes but that is just stupid. Just strip tags..

Spot on. Sketchy too, as vB can totally strip tags, and there are posts here stating it's done for you, which could screw newbies. I check every posters pics for coords so I can let them know before a ripper does!!! Good Karma FTW, tho I usually get the short end of the stick none the less..

Okay. You da man, someone who was very considerate did the same for me. Plus its a nice reality check...What program do you suggest Romulus? I dont plan on posting Diaries or anything like that. Just a couple nice pictures.

Sorting through some threads, few people said they use Infraview..I have this already apparently lol...so Ill give it a whirl.

On the other hand, if your exif doesn't expose you (no personal info) I vote for leaving it, that is, if you are any good at taking pictures. I often view the exif on really nice pictures to try and learn more about photography. A great deal of positive info is held in them. So for those of you shooting great pictures on DSLRs I appreciate viewing your exif file. If your using a smart phone... by all means strip it!

IrfanView (link) works great, esp. for albums (lots of pics); the program is free, has lots of plug-ins, does great video, and is top notch.

Below is a quick guide to easily and in very short time, remove EXIF (and IPTC, etc.) data from any number of pics:
Start > Programs > IrfanView > IrfranView - Thumbnails > [under IrfanView program] (browse to folder with pics) > (highlight [select] pics for EXIF removal) > File > JPS Lossless Operations > Lossless rotation with selected files ... > (then make the window that loads look the same as the window below; you want to make sure any setting about EXIF is unchecked) finally click the "start" button
In the image below (1a) I disabled IPTC information, along with EXIF, etc. The most important factor is EXIF, so my settings don't need to be used exactly, just make sure EXIF is disabled.

Below is how to read/check EXIF and IPTC data of images with IrfanView (also very easy and fast):
Start > Programs > IrfanView > IrfanView x.x.x [where x.x.x is the installed version number; ex., 4.28] > [under IrfanView program] File > Open > (browse to file) > click on blue encircled "i" button in the tool bar (see screen shot below; 1b) > in the window that loads click on the "EXIF info" button (see screen shot below; 1c) > read EXIF data
