i see i'm not the only one fighting high temps at the moment. also don't want to add ac so i have upped the power on my exhaust another notch. but like you say it's hard when it's warm outside too.

nice to hear about all your hash making. so true about the time with bubble and pollinator/dry sift. i imagine using the washing machines will save a lot of time, but it's another machine that takes up space lol. i do think it's worth it for quality reasons too. as your hash is in contact with the water for less time with the washing machine and no arm killing stirring too :) can you tell i'm trying to convince myself to go out and get one. have this really nice batch of trim from all my SDxCJ runs saved up, should make some very tasty bubble. using my piece maker to press a lump of mixed 45 and 25 bubble at the moment for a present for a mate who like not the best hash. anyway man, glad to hear all is going well.

peace out :kos:

:) i use a 43 micron screen for collecting my ice hash :) i have been thinking about getting a 25 micron bubble bag to get also the smaller gland heads - but i seriously dont know if it will add to the quality..

hehe stirring with brute arm force is good exercise - specially if it takes 3 hours to mix and shake hehe but compared to powerdrill + paint mixer as i used to do it.. this gives a far superior result. 3-4 hours in contact with the water is no problem for cured dry trim. might loose some little bit of flavour or smell, but nothing that really affects quality.

at the moment i wont make bho or oil for a while, since im honestly fed up with it, been doing 2 years almost nonstop every month BHO extrations - and now its not that fun anymore.

the benefit from drysieving and icehash is that it gives a hash that is easier to transport and handle. even if its sticky it wont be pure glue like bho.. specially when using cured and dry material. cured resin glands tend to not break.

i think if u look around you might find a good new cheap washing machine for under 200 euro. its gonna be able to handle more weigth than those bubble-lator things. but yeah.. space consuming for sure :D hehe and the weigth lol - not too portable hehe

my method of making icehash is;

i fill up 2 gallon bottles/jugs (8-10 liters) with about 4-5l of water, a few jars of trim, and a lot of ice. i screw on the corks. i let them sit covered with a towel or such untill the bottles are really cold. (15-30 minutes)

then i take one bottle at a time with my two hands, and shake it like there is no tomorow. i use as much force as i can, making sure the ice, water and material are turning almost into a foamy mash. i do this for timeperiods of about 2-3 minutes per bottle, let rest 5 minutes and repeat. i do this for a few hours, longer time the more bottles there is to shake.. then i take a knife and cut of the top part of the bottles with the ice and material mix. im carefull so i dont spill anything...

meanwhile i got prepared a 10 liter bucket with a ice hash bag (the bag used to collect veg material) i pour in the liqiud from one bottle, add ice cold water from the freezer (a few hours in forehand i stick in 16 l of water in there to get it to freeze temps) and some ice and stir and let settle.

the stirring i do when in the bucket is really light, and i do it every 5 minutes, just to make sure the material is getting a slight dip in the ice water, so any glands trapped inbetween will fall down. the more material i use the more time i gotto spend on this stage to make sure i wash out all loose trichs...

after jerking out the bag with the veg material i pour the remaining hash/water mix thru a 43micron screen into a big water container i got (50 liters)

when all bottles of material/ice/water mix are processed i pour the water in the collecting container once again thru the 43u screen to capture some more glands that sneaked thru. a lot tends to get stuck on the 2nd run, propably because there is glands blocking the 43u mesh and making it work as a smaller screen.

using normal polyester monofilament screen works great. i use clamps etc to hold it in place when pouring water thru it.

peae all

Sounds awesome to me :) Tired of the rain and cold spring, here. :( Got 13 plants ready to go outside, but the soil and outdoor temps are still too cold for any growth. 2 more weeks to wait.

Are you doing any outdoor this year?

B

bonecarver_OG

i wish i could do an outdoor, but its going to be limited to give seeds to friends that can do it and hope for some nugs in harvest times :D

rigth now the SSD x SSH/PTK/PTK in flowering are looking very promising. the sour smell is over whelming in the flo area :)

have you any opinions on digi ballasts and best bulbs? i need to buy some soon, have heard the digi's are getting really good. started a thread in the lighting section to help me do research and make a good choice.

i do love the sour smelling bud, been really enjoying it myself too on my pheno 5 and 6 of the sd x cj. in the end i have named the pheno 6 mum Afghan Diesel.

anyway man, keep up the good work and enjoy your hash, still didnt make my batch of sd x cj trim into bubble :) :bongsmi:

also need to plant my new test strains of exodus fem cheese by ghs and happy brother by Karma genetics plus the souramnesia by hortilab. hope to get some interesting keepers from that lot. in fact i'm gonna get moving on that right now, lol.

peace out bro

:) when it comes to bulbs i allways use sylvania grolux. digiballasts are nice. the start up is smoother without suchs a huge peak before the lights go on.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decollate_snail

i didnt even know there is predatory snails attacking the brown garden snail. but now when i recognise it i see i got hundreds of these in my outside garden :) yesterday i found 2 feasting on one brown snail and i didnt really know WTF was going on. todays google search showed some interesting stuff :D

B

bonecarver_OG

as far as i understood they feed on decaying plant material if there is absoluytelly no snail meat around, but these guys seem to prefeer a good snail feast or other bugs before munching on leafs. :) i never seen those on plants, but manytimes under the piles of decaying leaf, for example under my citrus trees and such.

i saw some links from USA that were even selling them so i guess its possible to breed them.. only need a cage, a afternoon of picking these, and then just drop in a few brown snails every now and then for them to eat :) hehe get my private snail army going :D hehehe

peace mate!

hehe or i just make the killer snails smoke some dank sativa and boost their speed. ;) but it might get annoying to run after them :D

over from killer snails to normal gardening :) i seriouslly missjudged the vegetative power of the 400W HPS on 24h light cycle. well if u can call it a cycle if it allways is on? but end results are im only 3 weeks or so into flowering with the current bunch, and i allready got the next bunch too big for flowering them normally. i mean i still got a good month more to go before i can put any more plants to flower.. i think i will have to trim down the vegging plants. some of them are over 4 feet tall. i gotto even have them on the floor next to the trays.

one thing i sure - im not gonna run out of plants for a while. with the size the plants will have when i can flower them i wont be able to fit many at all in one go into the flowering room.

its gonna be huge. maybe i gotto just take time and rebuild the flowering area to allove for more height for the plants. i still gotto start bending them to make sure things are not going out of control.

it awesome with lots of big plants, but it :) means ill be buzy as hell trying to keep them all happy thru the hot parts of summer. im up for some sweaty work the coming 4 months :D

peace all

Good luck with the overgrown plants. A dead 600w ballast forced me to use a 400w MH from about week 4 to nearly week 7 last run.

I was really surprised. Couldn't tell any difference in yield or anything else between those plants and the same under the neighboring 600w HPS. - Granger

B

bonecarver_OG

hm :) maybe i should flower part of them in the veg area for a week or so with the 400W and then move it into the flowering with 2400W.. maybe i should do it - it would save time. i gotto still wait a while more untill the plants in flowering are getting mature enough to calculate when they will be mature, before i will do anything. :)

ill think about it. other option is to just leave them and later bend them almost horizontal when i put them to flower, and trim of a lot of branches to have less flowring tips to worry about.

the plants grow very big under 2400W in flowering. the flowering area is abpout 180cm x 200 cm more or less. the light intensisty is pretty high i think.

yesterday i was cutting of lower branches in the flowering room to get a less of a jungle going on. also i bent all the tops so they are more horizontal under the lights. i dont think they will stretch that much anymore, its almost been 4 weeks soon in flowering..

most of the plants in this moment in flowering i dont know exactly how they will behave, since i havent flowered any of the "sweetnsour diesel x ssh/ptk/ptk" before. also in flowering i got a 3 amnesia haze x ssh/ptk/ptk and they are definetly really sativa dominant.. i flowered a few of them a year or two ago and i really liked the potency. also in flowering i got a blockbery x beeniemans choise - and that one is truly working it self to become an awesome smoke. really nice internodal distance and calyx to leaf ratio. it will be big hard nugs i think :D early build up also.

stoked :D

:) all good here :D

having really hot days.. and im watering lots to keep the plants happy. a lot of plants are starting to build up nicelly :) specially one amnesihaze x ssh/ptk/ptk, 2 SSD x SSH/ptk/ptk, and one blockberry x beeniemans. those will all yield well and have lots of resin. the rest of the plants are good looking, but some have not started to fatten up of the amnesiahaze/ssh/ptk/ptk nor the SSD/SSH/ptk/ptk. anyway the flowering time on those is a lot longer than the ssh/ptk/beeniemans i have been growing most of the past year.

i really hope the plants get maturing fast, since its time to stash up in the storage...

peace all!

:) looks like some plants are getting closer to cutting time in flowering.. hope so, i need to get the big plants in veg into the flowering space as fast as possible before they grow me out of space. rediculouslly big plants in 5 liter pots. im sure im going to have to transplant them to 25 liter pots and even so i might have to water 4 times a day. i water now 3 times a day, but the plants in flowering are smaller.

im using bloombastic now at 1/2 dose.. keeping the plants nice and healthy in the extreme heat. flowering room does not go below 35 degrees during light on. amazing the plants develope that well so close to the lights.

i think i seriously have to look into the remodelling of the flowering room. but since its a mayor pain in the ass im pushing it forward as much as i can... hehe

peace all!
