What's new

Eep's 2800w Drip coco VerticalSCROG - Casey Jones, Headband, Blue Dream, Vanilla Kush

This round, I'm growing in a new spot and VScroggin' some stretchy sativa-dominant hybrids! 1 gallon Root-pots (fabric like Smart only cheaper) Canna coco uncut running Canna Coco A+B for a while then 6/9 H3ad formula, through a manifold drip system ala Pico (Thanks buddy!)

No money for a buildout right away here so I'm running two smaller tents, a [4.6ft x 9.6ft] and a [4.6ftx4.6ft].

The bigger tent has 1800w, in the form of 2 magnetic and 1 digital 600w ballasts, running straight down the middle.

The first 3 weeks of flower were with only 1200w, and the third bulb was just added. I did this because the clones went into flower at about 9 inches or less, and didn't know exactly what to expect in terms of total canopy. Turns out there's enough room (i.e. ratio among plant numbers: bulbs: sq ft) so the big tent is now up to 1800 watts, simply by moving the two existing bulbs slightly towards the outside, and the new bulb in the middle.

This tent is really just a lazy scrog set up at about 2.5 weeks into flower mainly to brace the limbs for the soon-to-come branches'o'sticky, as well as the usual reason of evening up the canopy. In this case, however, I flipped the plants small enough that a scrog isn't as necessary to achieve a nice yield with these plant numbers.

The plants in this tent are a majority Blue Dream (local clone), second most populous being Headband (R****** P*****), and there are a few Casey Jones to bring the total to 20 in the 5x10.

Few photos from day 10 of flower:

But I thought it said 2800w? The other 1kw is horizontal (booo hisss!!) but I'll put up a few pics anyhow! Vanilla Kush, Bubba Kush, and one lone little Headband under a Super Sun 2.
:thank you:

I decided I'd do an indica-dominant tent as well. This little guy is only 4.6ft x 4.6ft, with another 4x4 Botanicare tray of 16 heavy indicas, well 15 really:chin: and 1 scraggly extra Headband reject from the bigger tent.

Strains in this tent: Vanilla Kush from B****** F*****, Bubba Kush from Greenhouse, and of course the lone Headband.

No scrog on these indicas since they too were flipped when quite small. The stretch has now finished and they're about 25" average.

The Vanilla Kush has really impressed me this round, as I haven't gotten to run more than a few of her at any given time mostly due to her slow-ish veg.

Again, these are at day 10 of flower under 1kw, running a drip manifold being fed twice a day.

:thank you:

The veg space, about a week ago.

You can see some overgrown mothers in tiny little half gallon square pots of coco  and 2 Sour Bubbles, along with with freebie Mixed Seeds x Sk1/Haze - which are starting to make for some interesting plants!

Yo Disco, thanks for stoppin' by  ROCK that cab!

Here we are, up to date at 25 days of 12/12.

It looks like I could've added a few more plants (had two runts that only did two weeks flower and were kicked for bad behavior) or longer veg + more diligent scrogging. Don't get me wrong, everything's on pace for big chunky buds with high calyx-to-leaf ratio - I just see room for improvement in terms of efficient canopy. I think in the next few weeks I'll do some cola-tying to the netting.

The horizontal 1k was flipped at the perfect time, IMO, but still could've benefited from a scrog, but I needed to be able to move the plants of different strain/stretch. :yeahthats

The Dreams look like Daddy-Longlegs spiders!

How 'bout some quick horizontal shots of the indica tent? Too bad, doing it anyway. :tiphat:

Killer setup man I love it, it reminds me of my own a bit. Few questions, how big are them trays? I've been searching everywhere for 4x4 trays like that but I can't find any, the only ones I can find are made by Botanicare but they aren't available in my area.

How often are you feeding? I'm taggin this one :D

HGO - Thanks! Been following the Vertical forum pretty hard since the switch about a year ago, and of course yours is a grow from which I've drawn inspiration. Unfortunately, the 4x4 trays in those tents ARE made by Botanicare. Freight-only shipping :(

The plants are being fed twice per day for about 20 seconds, on a little 633gph pump with a pretty short run (10 ft).

Marlo - "You want it to be one way. But it's not that way, it's the other." Favorite show of all time, The Wire. Same to you, brother, about the inspiration. I consider reading the forums a part of growing, always learning. Thanks for stopping in and keep checking back!

Day 34 pics

Been only running 1200w in this tent because of a heatwave here and no A/C in the basement, so the middle is a little sparse in comparison.

I also had to extend the width of my scrog frame. You can see the slip connectors in a couple of the photos, and the oblong shape I've turned my frame into. After this run I'll be re-designing so it's all once piece on top, and the bottom will be connected to the top, on the ends with 45 degree PVC connectors.

Same day in horizontaland :dance013:

Get this, my water-line hose I use to fill reservoirs developed a bulge and POPPED spraying h2O over half the basement! Good thing I heard it break from the floor above and could get to the shutoff quickly. I can't imagine what I'd done if I'd come home to a flooded basement!

Lesson learned: Don't keep a hose pressurized - close both valves :moon:
