Wow. . . how are people trimming their plants to get a single spike by harvest? Obviously they're cutting off the side branches, but what about the timing?

I'm talking about the pics on here of plants that were obviously vegged for weeks. I would imagine you can't just cut off all the branches at once right before you flip it, so does that mean you're trimming off branches constantly until a couple weeks before you flower them?

i know i haven't done any special trimming to get single spikes/colas i just flipped my clones at a very young age, basically no veg. ive had 3" clones that were put into flower and turned out to be 2 foot spears with no side branching. i think the little veg time may help force into a single cola with plants that are prone to stretching. it would seem the more veg time you give any plant, the more side branching. that's why all of the spears ive had were from basically no veg.

Thanks fukndenny! It seems most growers using this method are doing it with small plants. I was specifically wondering about plants that were vegged longer. . . say an AK-47 clone in a 3 gallon container vegged until it was 2'-3' tall. . . how would one go about vegging that for a single cola?

The main reason I ask is because it seems if you cut off a side branch too late (after it gets too hard thick), it doesn't grow back as 2 small branches, but instead just stays bare. That's why I ask about the larger examples shown here.

I don't know that you can, by the time its 2'-3' tall the side branches will be stretched too far to be a single cola.

it'll be a christmas tree :)

instead of trying to veg it to 2-3', you would just try to flip early at like 4"(inches!) tall or something, depending how much it stretches.

the larger examples i guarantee were flipped at a short height.

For baseball bats I would stick with an indica, like this, High Country Indica.
