Vertical Possibility - Suggestions Please!

I was thinking of coming up with a Vert grow. The only issue I got is the height issue, the clearing from bottom to top is about 35".

I'm thinking of making the area size about 5'x5' and using a 1000W in the middle.

Would a 400cfm inline fan work to cool that space off? Or should I upgrade to something more powerful?

What do you guys think, is this duable? Would you guys recomend running the bulb inside a cool tube?

And what would be the ideal distance between plants and bulb? I'm getting at least 18".

Hi Welcome

1000 watt in ~ 90 cm of height would be too much. How big are the pots you'll be using? Plants tend to grow larger then that also.

1000 watt is more for 2,5 meter height total or something like that.

Hey Hushem,

I'm not really too worried about the plants heights, I can make a V-Scrog and train them to grow horizontally instead of vertically.

What worries me is the heat that the 1000w is gonna be making. I'm wondering if with a ~450cfm with a duct right on top of the bulb and a small fan directly under the bulb blowing up into the duct would be enough to keep the area cool... I will have some passive intake that will be drawing air in the low 70F.

I also wonder if I will be able to go without using a cool tube...

That heat is what worrie me also in that 90 cm high space. For instance my room is 160cm high and i'm using a 250 watt bulb.

50 cm from bottom to top pot. 110 cm remain
70 -80 cm plant. 40 - 30 cm remaining for the carbon filter

160 cm total is the minimum for my 250 watt bare bulb.

Any problem with temps? How far are you keeping the bulb from the plants?

Do you know if a 6" vortex would be enough to cool half your are? 5x5x3?

homie i believe a 6in vortex can cool 600w, 1000w and 2x600w but with the ample height and low ambient temp. i got the 8in fan on a speed controller...you may yield better with a 600 but u gonna have to try !! distance to bulb=whatever they can handle till stress then back off a bit... peace homie

I got the 1000w in hand for now, and really not trying to drop more money than I have to!

I'm going to give a run on this 1000w, if its a overkill I might just switch to 2x400w
