Overgrowing Lapland 65°N

Hi there my dear friend!

It's once again a time for a short diary about my guerilla gardening here in dark cold Lapland. This time I'm going to try more strains than last time and find out what early genes have the best potential to finish here. But most of my time is going to go with LR 2's like usual. I have prepared large beds for them and my goal is to yield as much as possible. I might do a little seed run with them also.

At the moment my early plants are out and LR 2's are in small cups to create some roots before transplanting out. Here's some pics from the early's put outside. There are no cover in the pictures so it's easier to identify the plants.

Some might recognize this spot from the last year. I have made some changes there and it's now about three times larger and two times deeper than it used to be. There is also some space saved for few LR 2's to see how this spot differs from the other spots.

This time I put a lot of fertilizers in soil because last time there were some lack of nitrogen very early. I hope everything goes fine with these and some of these actually come even close to finish here - well that's where mother nature could give me a helping hand with warm autumn, hopefully.

I also have some seeds from last years Pehkuruder af x Thypoon that I tried to pollinate with very very fast male (mayby even auto). But I can't say what those are for 100% accuracy. But I'm going to put them outside in their very own spot at let them just be there and see if they actually are autoflowering and still looking like they used to look. I'd be more than happy to see them doing what I want them to do.

But that's pretty much all for now. I hope you didn't lose your nerves reading my post and I hope you will enjoy more this thread in the future when there actually is something to show!

See you soon:tiphat:

This is insane, growing in Canada is tough, even when you have multiple tons of water and soil to carry up mountains and the countless other aspects but wow man..crazy location my hat is off to this

It's about a time for some update here..

My early bed before any plants being removed..
picture.php

..And after few males removed.
picture.php

And here's my first LR2 bed from where over half of the plants were gone after one night out. There have been really cold and dry for a long time so plants haven't growth almost at all.
picture.php

Well, it's not going any better with the second LR2 bed, having only four plants left out of the 40 plants planted there. And did I remember to mention how small these guys are at one month old?

And now a couple of weeks later with over a week of nice sunny weather my early bed was like this. There are some male plants in these pictures too. But I removed those right after I took these pictures. First from ahead..
picture.php

..and then overhead.
picture.php

But my god was I disappointed with my LR2's after seeing that growth with early plants. Here's the first bed and I'm not proud of what I see there. Also a lot of plants have been eaten by animals from there, again.
picture.php

In my second LR2 bed I actually saw something positive, the male plant was looking good, and there were the best female also - when you compare to those in the first bed - but oh my god how bad these are looking when I compare these to my earlier seeding plants.

So, we are up-to-date after you see the next pictures!:good: And as usual we start with the early bed. It has been very variable weather here and the temperature has been from 5 - 30 degrees Celsius. Mostly cloudy also. Not too bad but very stressful because some of the girls showed balls. Damn! But I hope that these remaining girls would stay as girls. Some are flowering nicely already!:) You can see some yellow leaves there, but that's not deficiency - I just removed a huge male in front of them. And first there's a picture in front of the plants..
picture.php

..and then above the plants.
picture.php

And a couple of flowering pictures too of course!
picture.php

And don't ask about the name of these plants - I didn't bother to find it out because of the fucking mosquitoes.;)
picture.php

And then to the always disappointing LR2 bed. God dammit, there were like 60-70 plants planted in the beginning and this is what's left from it. I really ain't been too good a summer to go out directly from the seed. Animals have had a nice fiesta in my first bed.
picture.php

Well, my second bed, which is very near to the first bed is being untouched by animals so far. Nothing much have happened here though.
picture.php

Male is looking good. Nothing like males from the past years but it's still looking very strong - and there's some Christmas tree in it!:xmastree:
picture.php

And that's the end of my update. I hope you guys enjoyed it!:tiphat: See you guys a bit sooner next time!

Thank god im not the only one with small plants after a month ...but most of your plants are still bigger than mine ..lol

we get 2 days of sunshine a fortnight on average ...but mines are painfully slow at growing and it sucks.

im just hoping for a fantastic summer next year.

Update time..

Update time..

Hi guys!

I've took some new photos that I'm going to share with you here.

These pics were taken 1.8.2011 so they are about a week old now, but I think nothing significant have happened since then. Weather has been good, no rains what so ever and temps have been nice too! But the autumn came here today big time. I just wish that those nice weathers will come back soon, or just come back ;)

First there's my seeded LR2 which ain't too big plant, but it is however 100% free from mold. And I think that's great thing. I've took away some of the big leaves from that plant just to have a better look at it. And by that I mean it's easier to recognize mold there if there will be mold (and at some point there will be - no doubt about that).. And one important thing to know here is that I haven't done anything to that plant, fertilized or prepared it against mold or anything, except that I took away some leaves.
picture.php

And then there's some group photos from my early-spot. I think it looks nice when you consider the fact that I haven't done anything to it, not even fertilized or sprayed it (sprayed against mold I mean)..

And for last there's some closer look at some plants. First there is Royal Dane that looks nice I think. And the rest are from Thypoons, if I remember correctly. I think that those Thypoons might actually have a chance to finish here, if the weather allows that.

I hope you liked my show this time. And if the weather would be nice, there will be more to come!:)
