How too adjustTap water PPM?

How too adjustTap water PPM?

Just wanna say I have read alot and cant say i have ever seen so much helpfull info on coco ITS AWESOME! Im a first time coco grower and have too say im impressed so far.

Im mothering a OG Kush bout 10 weeks into veg. using canna A & B 8ml per gallon each. Using Tap water with a ppm of 390.

From what i have read the suitable ppm for tap is 150-300.
After my 8ml A & B my ppm is bout 950 too 1005.
Is this sufficient enough nutes for her in this stage of her growth?
Or should i back off the nutes too get a more suitable ppm reading? Or should i get something too adjust my tap water PPM?

Heres a pic Sorry its not very good one my good camera on a trip with Mother-in-law.

MY temps in my room are a little high side 85F humidity 30%.
She sittin bout 18 in from 400w hps
Any suggestions or usefull info is much appreciated!
And yes that is a yellow spot on big leaf there still in process of figuring out if that was some left over neem in a foliar spray bottle i used on accident or heat stress from high temps.
Opinions accepted or any info needed too help my grow is much appreciated. Already have 8 clones off her and 4/8 are looking superb and 4 are in retro due too rooting.

This is my first post on icmag, I have been reading this thread and just about finished it from the begining. So much good info in here. I signed up just so I could thank you guys for teaching so much. I'm having amazing results handwatering in coco.

I was having some problems but after brushing up on my coco skills in this forum, things are going great and I LOVE COCO!!

I am who I am coz I is who I is.
Can i over water in coco, ive been feeding my baby alot now, and its not even having any loss, makes me think it defineately wants more water not less :D.

Thoughts on this? more is good in coco?

Hey Afro, for your plants in coco, water and food are the same thing. So they like to be watered a lot since this keeps the amount of available nutrients well-supplied in the medium. And the reason they won't drown as such, is because coco still maintains plenty of airspace, even when just watered.

This is why the heavier the runoff, the faster growth seen. It keeps the nutrient level optimum as the plant eats it.

It's a lot to read, but I'd recommend reading through this thread from the start. It's well worth it, believe me. Lots of first hand information that's like gold for growers.
..........You could grow first class ganja from reading this thread alone. It's all here, dude. Best of luck and peace to bonecarver and everybody..........:joint:

Quick question about coco and handwatering...I've just made the switch from Classic "Hempy" with perlite/vermiculite to coco. I transplanted three clones into somewhat wet (though not sodden) coco on Saturday (4/30) and then fed them with a moderate dose of PureBlendPro and Liquid Karma with a splash of Cal/Mag. At this point (Thursday -5/5) the buckets are still quite heavy.

My question is whether I should feed the plants -gently- or wait for the media to dry out further? So far, the plants look good but I want to make sure that I'm not being deceived by the weight of the buckets and allowing my plants to become nute-starved.

I add, for the record, that I'm continuing to use Hempy buckets for the coco with a bit of perlite mixed in (probably about 20%). I'm wondering whether the Hempy method may be a drawback in that the media does not drain as much as a regular pot with several bottom holes. If that's the case, we will file it in live and learn - or maybe even transplant into regular buckets.

Any thoughts are gratefully appreciated? Thanks!!!

Thanks Maynard, been thinking of swapping to smart pots but was worried about hand watering. Will give it a go.

Hey what do you guys use to keep the pots out of the saucer.

I want saucers to catch the overflow. and not have the roots sit in any of it.

I don't really have access to flood tables, so I figured I could rig something up maybe individual platforms for the pots and I could just pull the saucer from underneath and dump it.

I saw somewhere on her where a guy rig something out of home depot buckets but it seemed more trouble than it is worth.

What do you guys use to keep your roots out of runoff?

I have just placed the directly on the floor but it still sat in the runoff, and it seemed like a bunch of salts would build up down there.

i KISS as far as trays. Dollar store round dishpans, with a smaller dollar store rubbermaid container to stand the 3 gallon pot on.
super easy to move containers around. Some are on a drain system, with through hull fitting coming out the bottom of the dish pan.

i use garland trays and put strong galvanised wire mesh over the tops to stand the plant pots on,i suck out surplus food (water) out with a 100ml syringe once a day it works like a charm. stay lucky

I am happy to report that my AK-48 fem has bounced back amazingly. A Couple weeks ago i ran out of RO water and needed to use my 250ppm tap water and I think it started to get better since then. I have switched back to RO water but this time I am adding the 5ml/g of Cal-Mag Plus like the bottle recommends which brings my ppm to 280ish (sounds high?) so i think it was a lack of cal-mag initially on my part. I think i was only using 80-100ppm of it. I am using 7.5ml/g of Liquid Karma and 10ml/g of Pure Blend Pro Grow which hits my desired 870ppm. I also recently started using 8ml/g of Hygrozyme (Grozym) enzyme supplement so maybe that has something to do with the great recovery?!?!

I also added 10ml/g of AN Voodoo Juice and 1tsp of both AN Tarantula and AN Piranha. I will not add those anymore during veg, and only once mid way through flower. The Liquid Carb should keep the microbes/fungi alive.

Anyways, I now offically love this Botanicare Coco i have :). Roots are growing like mad!!!!

Cheers all

"Calcium

Calcium is an important component of the cell walls of plants and is also plays an important role in the processes of cell division. It requires to be maintained in a ratio to phosphorus and is best applied in greater amounts 1.5X the level of potassium. The calcium magnesium ratio is also important and should be maintained at 3:1. For instance with 150 ppm calcium levels in a nutrient solution, magnesium levels should be maintained at around 50 ppm.

Magnesium

Magnesium is associated with keeping the plant "green" and is a carrier molecule for certain plant processes. Indoor crops will generally benefit from elevated magnesium levels. Reports on the use of elevated levels of Magnesium have been positive with growers harvesting firmer flowers and fruits. Hydroponics calcium formulations often contain additional amounts of magnesium. It should be noted however, that magnesium levels should be maintained around 1:3 ratio to calcium. "

so if your source water is Soft or RO you should add Calcium EC 225 to 450 uS and Magnesium EC 75 to 150 uS before start mixing your nutes. (this will give betwen 150-300 ppm 0,5 scale) or EC 300 to 600uS of Cal/Mg alone in starting water, on top of that u gonna have the Cal/Mg of your base nutes too.. for canna coco nuts i think this is very important.

i know this is old but its good info, TY for this thread ..im really learning a lot here..at page 50 and going hehehe i though i had to share something before end the reading :dance013:
all the best

Hi guys ,
i've a question but my english is a little "poor", so i directly ask you:
How many days there are between a watering and another one , using a 2 gals pot with a very little plant (i'm just a microgrower :( )?

i'm very interested about growing with coco, but i'm scared that i have to stay everyday at home for watering :O

i hope my post is understandable :)

pepetto - at first you can just water well once. lift up the pot and check the weigth of it. lift the pot up each day. when u feel the pot is light, and the top of the coco is dry - water again.

you should really start small plants in smaller pots. it really helps them to develop good roots.

depending on how your plant grows, you might have to icnrease watering frequency very soon.

what i meant is: during bloom how frequently do i have to water?
..i hope i don't need to stay at home everyday.. is it necessary?
thank you, anyway, for your help :)

IMOE if you JUST did a transplant you could let them go for two days or more without nutes. But if they are say 1/2 way through flower and pots are full of roots...you have to water/feed everyday. Only downside with coco compared to soil. Temps also a factor, the hotter it is the more you will have to feed them in coco.
So if you cannot be home everyday to do it coco might not be for you.

Number of times that question has been asked in this thread? Over 30 at least.
