hydroponic can simply be referring to getting your food up through synthetic fertilizers in your water, instead of just watering and getting your food from the soil.

lastly the thing about coco is that it is nuetral so that's why go with a ph that mj likes being 5.8

you get more P, K, and calcium availability in coco by using a lower pH. It's a waste to use cal/mag everywater at 6.5 pH and p/k boosters.

all main nutrients are avialable @ 5.8 in coco

How much of a improvement is there using coco and not soil. Im thinking im going to do a test run. I want to know If I can grow a nice potant female using COCO with my mix in it. I will be treating the grow as if it was soil and use 6.5 as my ph. I dont se why this would not work as long as I bufer the coco.

can you think of any issue that would prevent this from working

im interested to know now that you brought it up.

cant wait to see what happens.

the only thing i can think of is that by adding your mix to the coco would it act more like soil in that you can over water her?

I would not use cal/mag everywater. I dont do that now maybe every3rd or 4th feeding. PK boosters are not used until the girls start to crown and then its 1x per week

Im pretty sure you can. Roots Organic has a coco bag thats amended with goods.

ROOTS ORGANICS COCOFIBER
A unique formulation of the highest quality coco fiber/Coir on the planet which is repeatedly washed for an incredibly low EC, composted for over twenty-four months, and specially blended with extra long fibers, perlite, and pumice. Lightly amended with a starter charge of organic fertilizers like bat guano, worm castings and kelp, this mix is designed for heavy feeding and high performance in container or hydroponic applications. Coco fiber is a great medium and an exellent replacement for peat moss; it is an environmentally friendly byproduct, pH stable within the ideal range for nutrient uptake, and because of the Lignin content is slow to decompose. Roots Organics Coco soilless mix was created for the gardener who demands higher performance from their plants.

I just measured the PH of COCO. I used a Bluelab 3 tri meter with RODI water. Imix up some COCO into a 12oz glass of water ant he PH was 7.1 Thats Nutral in my book. If that is indeed the case Coco can be used just like soil and be mixed up.

if you are going to treat it like soil then you might as well stay in soil. You haven't told us your amendments. If you don't water coco everyday, the pH will rise. In your situation it sounds like you are better off mixing a bit of coco in your soil mix. not vice versa

I agree. I've seen posts where people said peat was better than coco when treated like a "soil" grow. BTW I treat it like "hydro".

Has anyone tried this. Is there any data I can read that tell me it will turn out like crap. I want to coco for a much healthier root mass. Roots love coco more then soil. I still think this will work just fine with no issues that I cant handel. I appricate all your help guys. Im going to try it.

Also I must say. I do weird stuff all the time if there is a good chance of a improvement. If you guys are not interested in my test I will just post it with those that are its all good my friends. Like I said I appreciate the insight and help

it'll work i just don't think it's optimal. at least use 6.3 pH. Also might be harder to correct if you run into problems. Straight coco i can flush quickly and it can recover from issues rather quickly.
