Mosaic Virus in Cannabis pics

You are more an alarmist than a messanger. I suggest you read your thread...where a link was provided to purchase inexpensive test strips. You don't need a lab, the lab provides the equipment to do the testing. And even though the strips are tested and sold as TMV specific tests, they reliably detect many types of virus including those that are reported to attack cannabis.

And how responsible is it to tell folks not to worry about it unlewss they see it in late flower,,,similar to the multiple shots of a single bud you showed us?

I think you have a long way to go to be seen as a responsible messenger.
:dunno

BTW...you DID indeed violate the TOU by posting up a private message. You can say it aint so...but we already see that you tend to be an alarmist rather than providing us with anything factual. It is a FACT that you posted up a private message, even though you contend you did not. But just like all we need to do is go look to see if you are telling it straight, all you need to do is back up your wild claims.

Your messenger status seems to be slipping away with each of your posts.....

No simpleton

God Damn are you an asshole...

I have shown pics of all stages and symptoms
go to page 1 ..

I recently dropped pics of the later stage symptoms and these are a sure sign that you have the virus,,,,

These were to clear up the confusion...

Now take your sorry ass down the road ...

If you can't be honest and take some of the live culture I send you and infect your grow with it ,,,,then stfu!

Simple enough shit for brains,,,, either you back up your stance
or get the fuk outta dodge

And shut your fukkin yapper!

I'm showing actual pics of a virus ,,,,this isn't even debatable

Go troll another thread,,,somebody has convinced you that you
are needed here and your worthless ego....

well you are not!

Piss off! :moon:

Obsessive compulsive ragdoll....

Listen you lil tool
I Don't owe you anything!
I don't owe anybody anything...
I don't need a fucking test strip to know
a destructive virus is present...

You obviously are so full of yourself you apparently think you know something about science...

A test will only show positive for the antibody present in the test kit solution...

The antigen is the virus that is in the sample or culture....

They are only going to bind if they are the same virus
thats what changes the substrate a color after the enzymes are activated...

It doesn't happen unless it's specific....

you are full of shit!

You're obviously ignorant enough to think a pregnancy
test may show Kinda Pregnant as well ! LOL

There are hundreds of viruses that this could be...
why don't you buy all the tests to prove it's a virus and keep
spending money until you finally buy the proper strain test kit!

Me,,I'm not an idiot,,,I already know it's a G damned Virus!
I'm not the one questioning it,you are...

here's one of my favorite quotes from the Master In Kentuck!
"Sure tests can fail...but most times they will reflect a false positive due to hormones or something that actually triggers the positive result, rather than the strips being faulty."

Hmm hormones or something ??
hormones or something...
hormones or something!

yep I'm sure this nonsense comes from actual hands on experience...
I see BGT is fully schooled in the art of BS!
knowing nothing Obviously by his own words how a viral test functions..

Hormones or something!

Ohh fuk me!

Thats sooo true. Thats why the test strips are kinda worthless
One mosiac virus will have different antigens than others...

Thats why i was mentioning sending samples to a lab... So they can pinpoint it w accuracy instead of a crazy goose chase going thru different strip tests.

Be careful folks... The destructive virus sucks. You will lose money hand over fist it sucks...

Greyskull, it has been reported by the lab that produces them as well as other cannabis growers that even though the strips are sold as TMV specific strips, they do indeed detect other types of virus, and apparently all of them that are reported to attack cannabis, so they aren't really worthless.
And if we have a viral attack, it really doesn't matter much what type of virus it is. The action required will be the same for all types, no?

Itd be nice to have a lab test a sample specimen as well as use the strips too... See if the strips reall do what they are marketed for.

Seriously though, if you think you have a virus thats moving thru the garden and fucking shit up i wouldnt waste time using test strips id clean house and start over... Something ive done before.

The destructive mosiac virus is real it spreads asexually and sexually aka thru seeds... Crazyness!!!

Edit: the strips are like webmd... You might be able to get an idea of whats possibly ailing you but id rather go to the doctor if im feeling sick and get a for sure diagnosis not a probability generalization - especially when it comes to something severe. Does that make sense?

All that said i am curious what drd sees on his tests....
He must have a virus of sorts to have the traits move to his peppers...

I agree that what you are saying makes perfect sense. The only thing that disturbs me is, folks seem to be thinking they have a virus when the pics shown are far from conclusive. Some are for sure not a virus. Shame for a man to cull his whole room just because of him thinking he has something he doesn't.

But then...culling a room is an easy task. The real chore is correcting what is really wrong...if what is really wrong is a deficiency of some sort, which most of the issues we are seeing for sure are. It gets especially tough when the plant is deficient of one article, but shows the symptom by locking out another article.

Proper diagnosis is the key. Pictures, anecdotes, and hysteria tend to make things even tougher.

Sure tests can fail...but most times they will reflect a false positive due to hormones or something that actually triggers the positive result, rather than the strips being faulty.

The TMV strips will work as advertised and they come from a lab that does this stuff all the time. That place is FULL of botanists.
And a little aside...I have been involved in lab testing for quite some time. It is common for a university to offer up testing services pro bono. They have equipment and need things for students to test.
Thing is...the university has no stake in the game. A reputable lab, on the other hand, has everything at stake. As a result, the for profit lab has no choice but to keep things calibrated. They know that calibration of equipment and perfection in process is what keeps them alive. The results fro a reputable for profit lab are FAR more trusted than anything that comes from any university.
Remember, the university is full of the learning and there are very few of the learned there. In the for profit lab, it is the other way around.

If I owned a dispensary, it would be mandatory that anything that entered my facility be quarantined and tested. Advertizing this would probably pay for it easy. It would also spark other competitors to follow suit.

"And a little aside...I have been involved in lab testing for quite some time."

I have but two words for you..

Bull Shit!

You're about as adept in the process and mechanics of labwork
as Lindsay Lohan...

Calibrating equipment....
In the testing of viruses ...really?
Why don't you tell me what equipment is calibrated?

I did calibrations on plenty of CMM machines that do micron
sized measurements and installed them for all types of industries.

I've been in Industry and as a machinist/engineer all my life...
My gal is in the medical industry ...
So do they calibrate their microscopes ?

we know how things work and I can spot a BS artist a mile away..

You are Tops!

So according to you University studies are all flawed as they are full of the learned...

OK I've read enough of your crap!

Go get another past time ,,,maybe greeter at Walmart!
You Fail here !

BGT quote

"And even though the strips are tested and sold as TMV specific tests, they reliably detect many types of virus including those that are reported to attack cannabis."

Bullshit!

a test comes with one single antibody....

This is only going to test positive when the matching DNA antigen from the predetermined virus
is introduced into the kit!

They link up and release an enzyme turning the test media a color...

Your failure to understand even the most elementary Lab principals shows you are a BS
artist...you may fool most here who don't have a clue,,,
but those that are educated see you as what you are...

If you ever stepped foot in a real Lab it was to clean the floors...

You remind me of the fat ass security guard at the mall who tells
the teenagers he's moonlighting but is really a Homicide detective
that works the night shift!

You can spout off your pedigree all you want, it doesn't change the fact that you have close to no idea of what you are talking about on just about any subject you have entered into at this forum.

Besides you have already announced loathe for the membership here and your departure from this forum so, we will be able to parse through this TMV subject without your misguided help.

Here let daddy help you to spell....
It's not "already announced loathe for the membership here "

It's announced a disdain or loathing

You're quite the mentally challenged one...

Actually asshat! This is a nice site....

It's absolute Idiots like you that I loathe....
Try and get something correct for once in your life...

I notice it is said we should destroy plants showing the symptoms. Just wondereing if that means we should all destroy our Chem D clones. Don't think i could bring myself to do it.

Chem D does not have TMV, it is a variegation.
The mosaic is one of the last things you will see on your plants, i only had about 1 or 2 strains that showed the "mosaic" out of about 20 or more strains, different strains seem to show different symptoms the most common being the leaves doing a right angle, the little burnt looking tips of the serations, leaf bubbling/crinkling and slight mottling of the leaves with light green mottles on close inspection...Peace

M

Marathanman

Thanks Doc D I notice one of the Sour Diesels showing similar symptoms. On the Chem D a couple of leaves are mottled plus turning to be right angles.
