I would think the lines would still need to be pumped and recharged when you reinstall. Now that you have evacuated that part of the line. If you just hook it up and do nothing there wont be enogh coolant in the system you will be short the amount you lost when you discounted it.

Not true .

Even if they have an exhaust and intake hose , they still draw air from the room . There is an intake that also takes the ambient air from the room. Portables will leak lots of smell.........

Word.

A scrubber or some ozone could fix the problem as those above have mentioned. Just know, straight out of the box there will be air (smell) from your room exhausted, even the unit I linked says "This unit does not contain a sealed compressor and a small amount of room air can be exchanged through the exhaust port". 1

I see in the catalog where it says quick connect but where does it say "does not require HVAC licensed installer"?
A lot of mini split sellers companies advertise them as "quick connect" when in fact they're not the true plug-n-play type like the Excelair or the Idealair units Sunlight Supply sells. They consider a pre-flared line set "quick connect" but you still need to have the line set vacuumed.

Could be bullshit, that's why I was asking.:):tiphat:

Not the best pic but I didn't feel like changing lens

They don't even come close to competing with Mitsubishi.
A "Mr.Whisper" is nothing more than a generic mini split that a distributor bought in bulk and slapped the name Mr.Whisper on them. The same companies that sell them also sell the equally cheap Shinco's, Klimaire's and Air-Con's.
NOTHING comes close to a Mitsubishi, not even a Fujitsu. You get what you pay for with these things folks, please understand that. I speak from hella experience with mini splits.
The Mr.Whispers are nowhere's near the SEER rating of a Mitsu of the same size, so they are not nearly as efficient.
Also, they use the term DIY too loosely because if you read the fine print it clearly says you need an hvac tech to install it. The line set on those still have to be vacuumed. They are not the true plug-n-play type like the Excelair or the Idealair units that Sunlight Supply sells.

Couldn't you do the whole install on a mini split your self , minus vacuuming and charging the lines? Then just have a tech come out side your place and do that for ya?

Yes. Thats exactly what I did with my first mini split. The room wasn't fully built yet so it didn't look like it was a grow room when the tech came.

What I ment was , possible to do from outside? Without going in your place?

Well, the tech will probably want to make sure the line set is intalled properly on both ends, outside unit and inside unit. And he'll want to check for leaks.
I guess you could make excuses as to why he can't check the inside unit but that might come off as sketchy. Its possible though.

So if you did in fact install it correctly , they could do that for ya? Maybe if you agreed it leaked it was your fault , you could get him to do it? Thankfully , I found a cool non-toker to install my unit .

Yup. Most tech's want to get in/out as quick as possible because time = $$$. Find a cool enough tech, slip him a C-note.
You could tell him that another tech installed the unit and checked for leaks with Nitrogen (make up a reason why the tech couldn't finish the job, like maybe his vacuum pump broke)
and just have him do the vacuuming.
Where their a will theirs a way :)
I figured that for me it would be more beneficial if I learned how to do it myself and never have to rely on a tech again.

Thanks everyone for all the info..Portable isnt gunna work..I bought it before i saw all these post..

Going with larger window unit,12,000 btu, since i dont wanna pull hot air into the room, the Delonghi is useless with my setup..

Will forsure use mini split if ever possible and will have setup before room is going

The description calls for a "circulating water system, such as a cooling tower". How big of a cool tower do one of these require?

any unit that uses air to cool the (indoor) compressor has the potential for air leaks (odor and loss of C02). only water cooled or split design units will give you the ability to have a true closed room environment where you are truly in control of the "atmosphere." when you have your environment/atmosphere dialed in (because you actually can due to sufficient cooling and supplemental CO2), the sky is the limit when it comes to growing. any strain will thrive in there.

if your room is not sealed... an A/C is wasteful.
if you plan to seal your room, then get one that does not exchange air via the grow room. it's really simple. portables and window units are not worth it in the long run (even the kwikool units). you can get a $500 dual hose portable for a short run and then upgrade once you sell your crop. it's really worth it.
