Hello all, i am just wondering how late in flowering can you pollinate a plant? As long as there are white pistils can you pollinate?
Thanks for any help. :thank you: :ying:

I don't think you'd want to pollinate more than half way through your flower cycle. I've tried after that and nothing happened. Takes at least a few weeks if not more to fully develop your seeds.

Are you sure? I understand that it is preferred to pollinate early, but i am wondering if you pollinate late (but still with somewhite pistils) will they still develop good seeds even if you have to let them go a while past normal harvest time?

Yes you can, but you may need to keep at least the parts that are seeded in "bloom" for a few weeks longer. You'll have overripe bud, but viable seeds. You can pollinate all through flower in fact, but the seeds "ripen" at a given rate once a flower is pollinated, so you'll have all stages of "doneness" by the end.

You can in fact just pollinate preflowers, they're perfectly viable on most plants.

IT TAKES ABOUT 30 DAYS TO FULLY DEVELOPE THE SEED...SO JUS MAKE SURE YOU IMPREGNATE WITH ENOUGH TIME LEFT...HOPE THIS HELPS...DJ

I was going to say 40 days but, yeah, make sure there's time left in the plants lifecycle.

A plant's 'lifecycle' can go a while beyond the flowering period before it dies can't it? eg. If the plant has a 10 week flowering period, and you pollinate it around 7 weeks, will the plant still live for the 4-6 weeks it takes for the seeds to ripen?

Question is, can it still uptake, process and deliver what the seed needs? I don't know but, let it go too long it will certainly degrade thc.

I've seen ripe seeds in less than 40 but, that's how long it takes my girls before they're all dark brown/gray with no greenies. Wouldn't surprise me if different strains gave different results.
