Best Solution to Root Aphids

Aza hasn't worked for everybody - they may come back... be careful.

BTW: WTF do you mean chemistry without chemicals?!? Do you even know what a chemical is... there are naturally occuring chemicals (like whats in aza) - these organic compounds can still be dangerous. Peyote produce cyanide naturally, castor beans produce ricin, Chrysanthamums make pyrethrin. Just b/c it is organic does not mean its safe. Many organic compounds will kill you. Use proper safety gear when spraying.

The blotches are prolly the ra coming back into the medium or just the progression of the root rot/damage that was already present. I bet you got the fliers but theres still tons in the medium.

Chemistry without chemicals... wow I dunno about that one.

They'll only come back if you let them...Just keep on a regular maintenance schedule of either spraying the soil surface or better yet using Azatrol as a soil drench (gets pricey, but how much are YOUR flowers worth?)

Resurrecting this thread......

I have had root aphids for over a year. They def came from a bag of organic soil as I never take clones from people and I run a hospital clean room. (Hard to imagine a guy with bugs saying that lol)

I have spent hundreds of dollars on Azamax. And although it is a great product, I do NOT think it is effective against RA.

It takes too long to work...it can't keep up with their life cycle speed.

I think pyrethrin drenches a great idea.

But I bought a bottle of Botanigard ES the other day. Figured it sounded like the best method of approach. To me, IMID is out of the question. I researched it...I am not smoking that shit. LOL

So I applied the BotanigardES last night at 1 tbsp/gal and watered away. Results pending......

Root Aphids are a plague. But I honestly don't see any damage to my crop at all. In fact, I am about to pull the best crop I ever had. Honing in the nutes to a fine point is a beautiful thing.

Granted my RA is well under control. But I have seen it go out of control. Taken a small plant out of its container and seen the roots basically moving with aphids. The fucks!

We gotta get a handle on this.

More to follow when I see results....if I guess I should say.

Be well ya'll!

didn't have a chance to read everyone's post, but I believe I had these (nearly microscopic, didn't notice them 'till I transplanted into black pot, Look at pot seems fine, blow on it and they go crazy). I was growing about 100 seedlings at a time and planting outdoors. I'd lose 95% of them but the plants that lived the RA eventually just disappeared. I believe MJ kills these once its healthy enough because I think I've run into a bout with them again and my plants hardly grew for a month and now they are taking off like normal healthy plants.
Anyone have a similar experience, am I talking about a diff. pest? Also, has anyone heard of/tried a predator bug?

Thx all,

Aero

Lady bugs in combination w organicide and azamax. I altered the application so they had a problem with resistance. You have to be relentless and religious with your attack. Worked for me. Good luck and good karma

As a preventative, I mix diatomaceous earth into my soil. If any crawling insects come in contact with it, it will cut them to pieces.

RA's are covered in wax, so some things won't be very effective, unless you absolutely flood the root zones and force them to ingest it. This wax covers the roots of your plants and makes the growth stagnant, even after all the root aphids are dead.
