SANGER, Calif. (KFSN) -- It happened at a house on Hoag Street near Ninth just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday night.


Fresno County deputies investigated the incident all night. They said a 24-year-old man was trying to turn marijuana into a condensed form, called "butane honey oil". The process involves using highly flammable chemicals that led to an explosion.

Deputies say the man suffered a head injury in the blast. He was taken to a hospital. His condition has not been released.

Deputies say the condensed form of marijuana is becoming a problem in Fresno County.

Wow, I never knew we had Marijuana labs, did any of you ? I just love the way they make this story sound. However, I think it may not be safe using butane as an extraction method.

Butane in an enclosed space = explosion?!?! Who would have known.

Just another story for them to demonize green and extracts due to ignorance... Hope the fellow ends up alright, but jeez....

First of all, FUCK BUBBLE!!!!

Second of all, this was NO BUTANE Explosion, IMO....

I see a Co2 tank hanging upside down, and that is not for Butane!!!!!

The guy was trying to make Co2 extract, at home, not butane.

I'm willing to bet on this, from the video pics I see.

Not only that, dude had it rigged to hang upside down with ROPES, nonetheless.....

Poor fellow. Too many people falsely believe they need Co2 extracts when in fact they are not as good as BHO.

And BTW, that was likely a pressure explosion, not gas or fire.

The video I saw showed no less that 15 cans of butane. CO2 is not inflammable, butane is.... I think they cause of the explosioin is pretty clear.

Be careful making BHO.. it's not exactly a risk-free process, and obviously not one for the chemically ignorant.

If your to lazy to take your BHO gear outdoors or cant because of neighbors than maybe you should be making QWISO, you may catch on fire but not explode!

Now hes just a number on some lawyers and politicans "statisics" of marijuana dangers

Wrong, wrong, wrong.....Just because you see butane canisters does not mean that they had anything to do with the explosion. The canisters were likely already used up from another run, previously. The Co2 bottle hanging is what caused the ruckus, i'm sure.

Butane is easier to do, so he was probably trying to up his game a little by experimenting with Co2.

The only way CO2 caused this guy to injure his head is if (A) the regulator failed and the can became a rocket and bonked him in the head, or (B) he passed out from displaced oxygen (CO2 is heavier than air, and displaces O2 upward) and subsequently fell over and whacked his head. It's pretty obvious neither of these things happened.

Since the video showed 'shrapnel' like evidence, it really looks like the reports are accurate that it was indeed a BHO accident. It happens, we see them on the Vancouver news every couple of months when some idiots lifts the entire roof of a condo.

CO2 wont explode, its non-flamable. Butane is highly flamable in the presence of any flame or spark. I've never seen a CO2 lighter for sale, but they do make CO2 fire extinguishers. Do they make butane fire extinguishers? RIght. If the dude died from CO2 it would have been an asphyxiation, not an explosion.

Don't let your dedication to the high THC level of BHO cloud your judgments. People DIE making BHO, I know of 2 cases in our community. It happens. Don't underestimate how dumb and careless people can be.

Be careful making BHO. simple as that.

WOW this is crazy. WAAYYYY to close to me for my comfort!!!

Also I have heard from a few people that a local dispensary owned/operated that spot. But that is all hear say so we know how that goes and I don't want to point fingers. If all this is true it shows that just because you know how to run a profitable place doesn't mean you should be making the stuff you sell.

this is the danger with flammable solvents and people in need of and or under the influence of medicine using them

How bout you take a minute of your time and google CO2 so that the information posted is at least close to correct? Are you making this stuph up as you go ? Just spouting doesnt help anyone. Now could you please explain further how this explosion was caused by CO2 because apparently theres a lot of us it doesnt make sense for. Thanks
