I'm a grinder... poker especially... but for most everything, I believe you grind it out.

But most everything in life is quantifiable with probabilities... once again, especially poker.

And after the tens of thousand of hours logged, over the span of years, seeing the numbers grind themselves out to expected averages... there are those that are just plain lucky... they buck the odds, shoot the angles, hit with the short of it. They almost seem charmed in most every endeavor of their lives... they do stupid things, it works out... they don't try, it works out... they fuck it up, it works out.

Some people are truly charmed... and no matter how far being good gets you... being lucky is better. Try to think of an aspect of human life where this doesn't pan out... good luck! ;-)

And I'm a golfer... wasn't it Hogan that is attributed with... "The harder I work, the luckier I become"...? But no matter how hard you work, you won't ever be able to stack the seemingly innumerable variables to get that ball in the hole from 218yards out... that takes a bit of luck. btw... i've done this twice... ;-)

I'd rather be good...there's more to feel good about when you do a job well done than if you just get a good result by lucking out.

and what is your definition of good? (since often people that say that it never pays to be good, say that after trying to help troublemakers of some sort and thereby getting into trouble themselves, duh,instead of having helped some good honest people)

cause im happy with being good (im nice to those smaller than i, i give them the same respect as those larger than me)

and lucky (things usually turn out allright though ive seen some sucky times, but looking back, that was usually because of my foul mood and depression spoiling things for me or getting angry or whatever..

and as they say, happy go lucky)

better to be good than lucky. I worked so many hours driving truck & taxi up to 100 hours per week, being awake and always in contact with people made more 'opportunities' available to me, could it be a little lucky that I was in the right place @ the right time for a special opportunity? sure, but working extra hours might be the only means of my being there.......


however I'd like to be lucky in love one more time.
