Controlling Humidity in the vegging room?

S

Hi All,
I have just treated myself to a HR-15 humidifier with plug and play humidistat to be able to control the rh humidity in the room, but my question is do I need to turn the extractor off in the room to save the humidity getting sucked out? or do I put it on a timer and set it to come on for a period every couple of hours? Any advice on this will be great :) Thanks

The HR-15 is so powerful that it cools the room which in turn lowers the speeds of the fans using the fan speed controller, therefore the room is now a perfect 75rh humidity and all is well :) I highly recommend this humidifier for anybody wanting to increase their humidity in seconds. It comes with a humidistat as well so turns its self off when at the humidity you set :)

Sounds cool bit of kit!!!

Cool is the word mate actual using cold tap water in the reservoir has reduced room temps by 5 degrees Celsius:) also has reduced watering to once in 4 days which in cellmax is brilliant. The plants are loving it to :)

Humidity is usually a problem an hour before and after lights on and off (perhaps 2hours in the latter). sett any timers for then

Indoor Humidity = water input x evaporation x transpiration

Naturally indica transpire little,, whereas sativa transpire more. Unnaturally surface evaporation indoors is entirely human as is water input,, work on these first.

Aim to restrict watering to the mornings,, a few hours after sun-rise,,, ideally from the bases of the pots. This will help to reduce humidity from evaporation (and ultimately unwanted mould)

Under rather that over water :D

I find keeping the extractor fan on all the time during the on period then coming on once an hour for 5 mins when lights are off removes all the humid air plus keep an oscillating fan blowing on the plants going 24 hrs a day to keep air moving.
Try covering the tops of you pots with something if theres to much evaporation from your medium this problem reduces as you grow a decent canopy.
