Very Sad.
As sad and tragic as this may be I would say it far better he go out like this now then being like some of his contemporaries. Like Hulk Hogan and Rick Flair and a few others who just can't let go and go out gracefully but rather hang in there and become caricatures of what they once were.

One of the most memorable scenes from wrestling was when Jake 'The Snake' Roberts let his snake Damien bite into the arm of a trapped Macho Man ... I was about 7 at the time, needless to say it blew my mind!
