NorCal GH grower trying out auto-guerilla in scandinavia

Hi !

I've just moved home to scandinavia after growin greenhouses in northern california for three years so to handle this new climate i've decided to go for Autos, and in lack of property ive decided to try out the guerilla thing :)

So the grow specs i didn't really know ANYthing about autos, except what i've heard about the auto AK47, so I read up asmuch as I could and i was gonna go all auto AK but those seeds seemed hard to find at this time of year so i put in a little mixed order:

Smile Automatic x 20

Auto AK -(green o matic) x 20
Critical + Automatic x 20
Maxi GoM x 20
and then i've decided to try out a few strains that just sounded to intresting to resist :p
BCN Diesel Automatic x 10
Easy Ryder x 10
Annapurna Auto x 3
Roadrunner #2 x 5
Haze Automatic x 5

anyway, as im livin in scandinavia and my woods are pinetrees and swamps-marshes... the soil is either to acidic dry-moss-sand-rock (pinetrees) or Real Wet (swamp), but i've found a couple of Great spots right in the treeline between pines and swamp, and a spot in a clear cutting of old pine... spots with sun all day

Anyway as the soil seems to be poor to say the least i've decided to carry in amended soil with osmocote and time released algea (something swedish called algomin)

Now to the question, my plan is to break open the soil in the woods and then flip it over upside down and mix in some time released nutes, and then make walls for raised beds ontop of that with material found at the site, branches rocks etc... and then put my soil in there.... now im wondering because the soil is acidic where im digging, is it a bad idea to put my raised beds atop of it and let the roots grow down into the acidic soil ?? should i amend it or just put a plastic sheet with lots of holes underneath my potting soil mix to keep the soils seperated ??... or should i just do plastic bag "pots" and make holes in thrash bags and put soil and plants straight into those ??

also wondering if the acidity in the soil "leaks" over into my good soil if I just dig a hole and fill it up with good soil and put a plant in it ?? will the acidity spread over to my soil, and if so how fast will it ruin my soil over just a 2-3 month period?? my plants will be pre vegged for 2-3 weeks keeping them indoors at night and outside in the days... im also wondering if autos absolutely NEED to be transplanted before they enter flowering ???

Thankful for answers You guys have taught me so much already (just never dared to post something :tiphat:)
I wish everyone a GREAT season !

Hey man, sounds like you have a decent amount of strains to try out..

I'm sorry I can't offer you anything in the way of advice or responses to your questions, other than I'm sure someone more knowledgeable of Outdoor AF's/your area will chime in.

Best of luck though,

Mitch

Hey man. I'm here too(finland though), and been growing outdoors for few years. I would recommend for going with Danish genetics like royal dane, thyphoon, or danish passion...reason is simply the yield. Autoflower girls will do it too, and even faster. But normally autoflower plants are quite small. My way has always been the normal "dig a hole and fill it up with good soil", then add a layer of chickenshit to the top and leave it there, come back for harvest before october or at early october. My autoflowers are ready at august. And about acidic soil, my plants allways likes it more than the usual. That's why i grow allways near by the spruce trees.
If you want to find "perfect" soil for mj, you could search for some nettle bushes and try to make nice nest in middlle of them. Nettles also helps because it's harder to spot ganja plants from nettlebush....safety, stelthiness....
I wish you a good grow. :)

Thanks for your thoughts raparipa, i read alittle bit about thyphoon, royal dane and danish passion a month ago but i got a little confused, it says they are "early" but i thought they still would need the 12/12 to go into flowering... and because im doing guerilla ill have no way of light depping/covering them all the time...

Correct me if im wrong, and then i Will try and get some of the royal dane too :)

otherwise it will have to be an experiment for next year, would be fun to try a "normall" strain though, just to compare the two... then ill certainly know what to get next year

:)
Peace !

Well I have to disagree at least about royal dane, I tried to grow it indoors couple of years ago, and it started flower to flower under 24 lightning, I made a batch of seeds with them, under 24 hours of light.
Thyphoon and danish passion, I don't know, I haven't done test like this with them. So, I would say that certain procent of RD's are actually autoflowering plants even though it's categorized as "early".

The Typhoon..are you talkning about Tanska's Typhoon? If so, they're 'semi-flowering'. And they need pre-veg indoors for 3-4 weeks due to the short summer up here. Anyways, looking great! Lycka till!

okey !

Thanks for all the answers !
I've ordered 20 more thyphoon so i'll see where that goes :)

Still wondering how i should grow it though, should i make raised beds with good soil and let the roots grow into the acid soil (with nutes)

or should i keep my good soil in my beds seperate with plastic bags)
and yeah im talking about tanskas thyphoon :)

Yes, I would do that. It's a good way to avoid nutrientburn. :)

edit: I'm sorry but it's too late to germinate typhoones by now, read my previous post. They need som pre-vegging. With an pre-veg of 3-4 weeks and germination in may they flower around 'midsommar', If u know what i mean? ;)

Hi Lycklig and welcome to the Scandinavien woods ! I hope you will have a good harvest. And for the "Danes", they are semi-auto and doesent need the usual 12/12 to flower, i think they only need something like 6-7 h of darkness to flower so it should work for you. Btw on what latitude are you growing at ?

Thx for all the response !

It feels Great to be out and about in the woods again, i Love this time of the season, everything is waking up and getting ready :)

anyway, im at 60degres north...
and hmm feeling a little bummed out not getting the thyphoons eariler, but im still gonna try them, they should still be able to yield OK if i start germing them this coming wednesday

I just want to compare and see the difference on auto-normal, never grown autos so that will be interesting too, but would be fun to compare them next to eachother... and after reading up on the danish climitized strains i got Really intrested, They're BIG AND Fast :)

P.s. I'm going to Veg them at home for the first two weeks (outside in GH at daytime and inside at night) is two weeks enough before planting them out ?? if there's no more frost or animal intrusion they should be ok right ??

Lets just hope the deer, moose and bear stays away :)

I wish everyone a good harvest !

D.s.

Does anyone have any experience using hair, dog poo, egg sprays etc in bear country ?? most Deer and moose deterrents include rotten eggs and animal remains, does anyone know how this effect bears (they are around I've seen the poop nearby)
I heard about a swedish product called vildskydd, anyone tried it ??

Peace and Have a Good one !

Two weeks Is alright! Wolf pee should keep the bears away.. go to blocket and search for "vargurin"(works against deers, moose etc for sure, never encountered any bears).

p.s Germinated ten Easy Ryder's yesterday. Let's hope for a good swedish summer! ;)

Hey Haxi !
I've been reading through your 2010 guerilla and im eager to see how you do this year :)
with a little bit of luck and alot of hard fun outdoor labor i'm sure it will turn out Great, lets just hope the summer stays this nice :)

Finally done with all the holes ! first though of doing 60 or so smaller holes and putting 2-3 plants per hole, but after digging a few i soon changed my mind and made 5 larger beds instead.... (it just seems Way more controlled and alot easier)
meanwhile my GF helped look after my germinating seeds and i was stoked today when i came home and Every seed had a small white tail
Good luck to you all ! :)
