First T-5 Grow

Big Dad

New member
Hey everybody, This is my first indoor grow, so I am looking at some feed back. I have 4 Purple Power girls under T-5 Sun Leave VIII's (24hr). The plants are 4 weeks old and I just re-potted into larger containers. Should the lights be closer to the plants. They are at 12" from the top now. Any comments would be great. The far right plant has curled kinda weird. any idea's?

Whats your temp? T-5 can get real close so if its not raising your temp get them as close as possible without burning.

I'd leave it up for a day or two, let the transplant shock go away. then set it down to within 10 inches of the tops, that 8 bulb T5 throws more than a tiny bit of heat. you can get them as close as 3-4 inches once they get a little bigger/healthier

I am sure that one mutant looking one will eventually pull through, but is it worth your time?

The room Temp is about 67 to 70 degrees. Just before I re-potted I took a temp reading of the soil because I thought they were a bit warm and it was 78degrees, and at that time the light was about 5 inches from the top. I think I am liking this new T5 setup.
Thanks,
Big Dad

That was kinda what I was thinking....Wait a day or to then lower it some. Room temp stays about 67 to 70 degrees. I know that the girls like warm soil but what is the temp limit and or will this hurt them?
Thanks again,
Big Dad

you can get your soil temps too high but, we're talking pretty high into the 100 plus degree range

I grow tomatoes outdoors in earthboxes with the black plastic cover over the soil all season, thats alot hotter than anything you will get indoors

I run a 8 lampT5 in addition to the fan to pull air for the ventilation, I have a 6 in clip on fan that moves the air over the scrog and hold down th heat. Soil temps stay at a consistant 75 degrees F. When I have had the clip on turned off and close the box, the temps climb in to the 90's,when in bud the odor climbs also even with a scrubber.
You can go to 3 inches when the transplant shock is over, you can grow outstanding MJ with T5's.
Pic's are current scrog

Right on. One thing I will do today is add a fan. The room is 15X12' and has really good insulation so stays cool even in 100 degree outside weather. Is that little fan in your pic's from a P/C? I've grown outdoors many years back, and boy have things changed, and I thought I knew alot....I guess this is a continued learning process. Thanks for sharing. Oh yeh, I like the way you have the string setup....Good job and happy happy growing,
Big Dad
