Cheap 5" square pots?

PLH has 50 packs of 5" round Hydrofarm net pots for 26 bucks before shipping.

Any square 5" pots that can compete with that? PLH has them for 89 cents each but that's too expensive IMO. I want cheap pots like they have in nurseries really but I can't find any sources for the cheap bulk stuff. And I don't want them any bigger than 5" wide. I have 6" wide bags now and they're too big for my strain.

The bags are actually pretty good for packing together. Are you going by the old pics with the black bags, or the newer pics with bags with black inside/white outside (they're all folded over so only part of the white outsides show up in photos)? The trick is to fill them nice and full so they take on a reliable uniform shape.

Anyway, the problem for me with the bags is that they jostle the contents around when handled. Not a good idea with Hydroton or other media, but especially bad since I'm using a red lava rock and Hydroton mix. I always planned to move to rigid containers when I could afford it.

That is a damn good price Marshall, thanks.

when you first started your SOG plants are too short thread some months back. I just remember them not looking packed in.

Those square pots work great, Dont sag, etc. And they consistently pack in

You people should check out a greenhouse supply company, either locally or on line. Cheaper in person with cash.

They make 4 1/2" square pots that a sleeve of 250 will cost about $10, plus they make a tray (aprox 15 x 22) that is designed to hold 15 of them, trays cost abt $5 per 100. You can move 15 plantlets at a time. The trays have slots in the bottom, pots have holes so you can place them in a larger flood tray and do bottom feeding (ebb & flow) if you want.

Oldmac, I'll probably do that, thx for the suggestion. Wherever greenhouses get their stuff is definitely where it's at. I used to veg all my girls in cups (they look a lot like Solo beer cups) that go into cheap molded plastic trays. They're just the kits that come with flowers at garden centers but they make moving lots of containers around really quick and easy. I use the trays now to hold my net cups, and still use the cups that came with them if I need extra.

It would be pretty cool to be able to do the same thing with my flowering girls.

Had a chance to get a tray and some pots for a couple of pics.

The tray measures just under 13"x 21" exact, pots are 4 1/4" sq by 5" tall. They fit really well and give the small pots stability.

It's a great size for SOG. Maybe even bigger if you don't mind root bound flowering.:)
