I'm a cheap bastard, and I do own a old Sony...though not the model mentioned.
She ain't blown yet!
If she does blow and maims my wife....I'll sue the hell out of Sony. Sue them blind I tell you!

Anger management?....Me?....say it isn't so.

Actually tubes implode, since they are under a vacuum.

Danger still exists of pieces bouncing towards any person...

Yeah... not likely unless you shoot the SOB in anger!

Sonys die hard, but to the best of my knowledge they don't explode.

Good TV's, I've always been happy with Sony

Some of the older Sony FD Trinitron/WEGA TVs have a nicer, more vivid image than much of today's offerings.

older tv´s will last for decades (barring freak accidents and manufacturing mistakes(very rare, its an old technology))

those new ones will probably need to be replaced in 5-10 years lol

Back in '91' I picked up a Sony Trinitron 42" through an Amex rewards program (along with a 1200w Technics rack system)

That thing is BAD-ASSED and still working perfectly, it's since been relegated to the basement for when I have my own personal trim parties :dance013:

True PIP(dual tuner),wireless(STEREO) headphones...truly ahead of it's time. The weakest link has been the remote. Knew I should have grabbed 2(remotes) the last time I replaced it.

older as in the ones that where encased with wood. yes they do,but i had to throw a rock threw the screen for it to do that. it sounds like a gunshot.

older picture tube tv's will/can explode as explained in an earlier post.

only other danger could be a charged capacitor inside the tv.
but as long as you're not waving a piece of metal around the inside of the tv,
you should be good.

for $17.50 get it I guess, otherwise you could score a 22" HD TV for couple hundred bucks
