Homemade Aeroponic cloner. Pump Cycles?

I have been using some homemade Aeroponic cloners.
I have a dozen of the Mag 5 Pumps. My times are 30 seconds on 4 minutes off.

The mag drive pumps all seemed to die off about the same time ( 6 months).
They would still run, but not give any pressure unless you pulled them out of the water, let them suck air, then stick them back in the water, and BAM full power blasting water. But as soon as the timer went off the pump would not have its pushing power again unless pulled out of the water and allowed to suck air then back in the water.
Not sure if this is a magnetic thing and they just wore out.

Now if i left them on 24 / 7 they would have there full power and spray continously, but thats not the case.

So I went and bought a bunch of Home depot 300 gph fountain pumps and replaced them.

My question after this long winded explanation is for anyone who has the EZ cloners you can buy - Could you tell me what the suggested on and off times are for your recycle timers ?

Im curious is 30 seconds on 4 minutes off is too much for clones and unnecessary wear and tear on the pump ? ( maybe 60 sec on 15 min off ? )
