How wet should the soil be when you harvest?

I just flushed my OG kush plant with 3 gallons of water (grow diary can be found here). I was wondering if i should allow the soil to dry out before I harvest the plant?

letting the soil dry for a day should speed the buds drying by one day, just dont let it wilt because it will be harder to trim

Agreed, a PITA.

I like to let the pots dry a bit, if only to make disposal a little easier. I've harvested plants in dry pots, wet posts and everything in between. No real difference to speak of. It's the cure that serves as a final determinate of quality.

I like to chop them when they are at that day before you would water them, or day of watering dryness, but not overly dry to where they are starting to droop.

Trimming wilted plants is a B! Dont let it happen to you! I prefer to harvest them while they're still crisp n moist..... but that usualy means we have cubes filled with water. And thoes damn things are heavy when ya load em all up in a heafty bag and try to carry them up a flight of stairs. We gotta turn the water off at juuuuuuust the right time to get crisp plants to trim, and cubes that arn't too heavy.

Allowing the soil the plant is in to dry out slightly before harvest helps reduce the risk of mold,, and reduces the drying time.

We find that Afghan dominant plants prefer small cold cups of water daily,, whereas larger sativa plants want a heavy watering every few days during the last weeks before harvest. The smaller the plant the less water it needs to survive. In general most ppl overwater!

Hope this helps

I like the plant well hydrated when trimming also. I like to snap larger leaves out of the colas at the base of their stem. that goes much better on a hydrated plant.
