recently got a santa fe dehuey for 700 bucks....retail they are 1400. so pretty good deal.....and one time the local hydro shop didnt charge me for a bottle of nutes....not sure if it was a mistake or a hookup...
for car deals not much can top my friend...he found a 94 camry for 50 bucks ran good and everything just needed a battery....ended up selling it 1500 nice little flip...

Back when I first started growing I was working for a union construction company. We had a job remodeling a warehouse and I stumbled upon a room that had about a hundred 400w MH lights laying on pallets. I asked the superintendent if I could buy a couple of them. He told me to take as many as I wanted. I took 12. Up until then I had been growing with fluorescent shop lights.

My partner got a call from one of his guys that had to move outa state.
We got
7- 4x8 trays used but in good condition some black some white
3-tables with wheels
18- 220v 600w ballasts electronic
25- 600w bulbs
2- 1000w ballasts
19- batwing hoods with the little quick adjust thingys
tons of cutting edge nutes, bushmaster, ph stuff.
3-dehumidifyers
2- 10" fans
1-14" fan w/ filter
1-6" fan w/ filters
8-wall and floor fans
1- 20 light timer board
some wire and misc hard ware
And a bunch of pump sprayers and some other random shit I cant remember
We paid 5k for all the above and about 55 fucked up plants and mothers. THe plants came in some sweet square plastic pots I really dig
I stoped calculating when i got to 20k . Fucking amazing come up for us, now we got 10 6's going. Were getting a 5ton ac installed cause it's hot as hell were I am and then we are firing up all the above

Got a 150w MH complete setup for free back when I first got growing,.... later scored a 600w HPS ballast and hood for $50, needed a bulb that was it.

I got 6 Magnum XXL's 8" for $75 each!
summer of '66, haight st., the city. a buddy and i, both 16, had driven up from the east bay 'burbs to get a brick to take back and "reallocate".
it was a saturday, the weather was fine and the street was packed. if you were there then you know the scene. street people, panhandlers, tourist, thousands of people doing everything.
including selling anything you might want from doorways up and down the street. we walked the street a few times, checking shit out, not really finding what we searching for, about to give up for the day when this old, long haired, bearded dude says to the crowd, "keys".
we went into a doorway and he opened a paper bag and inside were "bricks" wrapped in red cellophane. he pulled one out and said "that will be 85 dollars".
the normal protocol when buying weed on the street was to pull some out at random, roll a doobie, and light it up. that way you knew you weren't getting ripped off.
this guy said " i don't have time for that you either want it or you don't". so i paid him and ask him where it was from. he said Michoacan. i had never heard of the place at that time and thought it was a country somewhere.
well, we get back home and open it up. inside the red cellophane were newspaper funny pages with the cartoons, all in spanish. it was all seeded but tops and it weighed 2.8 lbs.
it must have been a pure sativa because it was trippy stuff. we passed it around at a party and after a hit or two they would all just look at it and hand it off.

Damn it must of been nice times on Haight st. in 66 wish I could of seen it.
Great thread, bargain hunting can save you a ton of money on a setup. Even when the hydro shop is "hooking you up" you are getting a better deal to buy used on CL or ebay.
As far as grow gear goes.
