Question On Police detection of indoor setup's

Hey All

Just a quick question i have,

A mate of mine has told me the cop's in Aus have something in there car's that can detect an indoor grow, Like a frequency the ballast's put out and also that the energy companys report any spike in electricity use to the authority.

Do these Claims have any truth or is it all bullshit.

the thing about the electricity companies is flat out bullshit, the thing with the ballasts is plausible yet farfetched (weirder things happen), the thing you have to worry about most is your exhaust - if you exhaust directly outside, you MAY be likely to get a visit.

That being said, I'm next to 95% certain I'm getting a visit tonight - Pigs out the front and down the side...

Cheers for the info mate, I thought it was a little out there to suggest something like that but being a first timer i'm easly stired up when it comes to shit like that.

As for the exhuast i got that covered with carbon filter and odour sock.

Not good news about the PoPo being about, Lets hope it's not for you.

No shit, damn righto i didnt know that, cheers for the heads up, I've got a way of ducting it under the house into a decent sized area so it wont be vented straight outside, I'll get that sorted first thing in the morn.

Id say you should definitely vent inside the house/up into your roof near the water heater (if you're lucky enough to have one up there)... Never into open air. Think about it... It sees heat signatures... a 500cfm heat signature coming out the side of a house is NOTICEABLE.

Well neither JD or I are ANYWHERE near your side of the world, however to report spikes in power use one would suspect that the power company would have to have SMART DIGITAL METERS at each house. If the meters are old style analog dials the company has no way to monitor houses on an hour by hour basis.

I would think that the power company could still monitor the amount of power sent to different transformers and may be able to tell that a neighborhood has fluctuations. But the power company is probably MUCH more interested to see that the amount of power sent to the transformers is equal to the amount of power paid for through the meters. If a bunch of power is leaving the transformer and not getting billed for, the the company will be on the lookout for a power thief.

I believe that digital ballasts are already shielded and do not give off feedback or interference. It would be hard to believe that the PIGS have some device that can read the electronic signals of shielded devices.

However if you have a concern over signal or heat detection, look into:

PRODEX

It is an amazing heat, vapor, and IR barrier! I cover all walls and ceilings of my rooms with it.

Hydrosun Australia has had a major over haul and it is becoming mandatory for houses to have the SMART DIGITAL METERS installed... not all houses have them as of yet... but expect them in the near future

lol, not sure if your taking the piss or not there... erm, what I mean is that the very best thing you can do is NOT go stupid with your lights...

Filling a warehouse? Dumb move.
Growing for yourself in a cupboard/SMALL room - they wont notice - another thing to do is stagger the times of turn on/ off, say have 15 minutes between each light switching on

Haha Some good ideas there, I like the two grow set up's Just for the bigger yield aspect but i think staggering the on/off times is a decent choice.

sorry to tarnish ya thread but cops wont fuck up your grow its other people or yourself, been down this path with a cupboard setup, even on a low scale its a risk, heat is number 1, security of your grow # 2, so know-one even knows period! cos ya mates talk shit when they are on the piss. real-estate / family greetings inspections (whats that noise/smell), fire hazards. Getting caught growing indoor with equipment and those fucked up chemicals (pgrs etc) is not good if convicted mean you may never be able to fly outta oz plus hefty fines and maybe a new jail mate. Best do it properly outdoor with a few female plants a season, and you get the same yeild/yr less the head fucks paranoia and penalties. Nothing better than a 1- 2lb sativa thats organically grown. free smoke all year round

I'll just throw in my two cents..... don't tell ANYONE about your grow. That is by far the most common reason for grows being discovered. The cops don't have the time or funding to go around randomly searching in heli's. Those choppers cost well over $1000 per hour to operate.
On the topic of electricity use, how many people this year will install a 8kw or larger airconditioner. (You should see the flir heat signature from an A/C outdoor unit in summer) Many houses have two or more split systems which, at around 8.5kw each, create spikes whenever they turn on. Reverse cycle a/c's are also used in winter for heating. Those smart meters are a real shit though.
Play it safe, don't give the cops a reason to fly over your house in the first place. Don't get carried away with your grow size..... its easy to do.

best all-around security/law enforcement post i have seen in a while. covers all the bases/drives home the most important point."tell no one." 95% of busts occur because of a snitch or C.I.

if you dont show anyone the the grow, dont tell anyone that u grew this herb, then you eliminate your greatest security risk.
