i want a cab like this

http://www.hg-hydroponics.co.uk/mini-stealth-grow-cabinet-1664-p.asp

but dont wanna pay that price for something i could propably build cheaper :D

if i could get a cab with these dimensions and a 2-4 oz/harvest outcome it would be P-E-R-F-E-C-T

so can u guys help me ?

i thought building it myself out of wood is good nuff

questions i got for ya :
1.can i grow 2-4oz in a 40in tall 15 deep 40 long cab?
2.what lights and fans&where do i mount them? (i thought going with a DIY carbon filter)
3.what strain(s) maybe AF?
4.what would it cost ?

You won't know until you try! Build your cab out of wood. The size of light you go with will determine the amount of ventilation you will need. You can get a 250 or 400 watt hps in there and get a fan that give you enough air circulation. As far as where you're going to mount them, why don't you just replicate the box on the link you posted. It looks like a nice cab

Are you planing on Soil or Hydro?

I'd say go with 150 or 2 x 70w hps as a 250w would be very hard to keep cool in a cab that size.

Mount the lights on chain at the top (dont forget to earth the shade). as for fans depends on what you plan to use. best would be a inline fan pulling at the top with passive air holes at the bottom.

as for strains.. My best results were growing in a 4plant SOG with 1 x 70w over 1Sqft. good strains were C99, Lifesaver, AK48 & White Widow flowered as soon as the clones rooted in 3litre drinks bottles. was getting about .6 - .7g's per watt.

It took a lot of trial and error to get there but assuming you can nail it you should be able to get 3-4oz from a set up like that.

good luck.

welcome to growing!

welcome to growing!

Hey Welcome to Growing Your Own!

Its work but its definitely worth it!
Goal should be to create ideal conditions:
air circulation, temp, roots, nutes, light

Bigger isnt always better. More is not always good.

Recommendations for your cabinet.

Lights: either 150 or 250 HPS. cooltube would help heat concerns. (with 150 temps wont be awful) If you can, mount the light vertically.

Fans: PC fans are almost adequate with 150 and scubber. But bigger fan on a speed controller with carbon scrubber will probably be best option for long term. (when you go bigger)

When to run your lights:
easily overlooked by newbies. run at night when the temps are lower. esp during summer.

Training your girls:
LST or HST are vital to good yields. practice makes perfect.
Keep the girls as close to light as possible without burning them.

Starting out.. and learning. When starting out, I found running a perpetual grow highly rewarding. (patience is ultra thin for ALL newbies)

Viewing pleasure: Check out the 150 hps club. Easy to scroll thru and look at many setups at once. Many are getting/ surpassing the your target yield.

yeah there's a 250 club too. bla bla might as well look there too.
With 250 magnetic ballast, you have option of using a CMH bulb.

nah just checked what things cost and what i wanna get :D im at around 250$ without the cab itself (pots soil lamp fans mylar)

ok thats the version 1.0 of my cab :D

40inch tall
15inch deep
40inch long

108cubic metres/h exhaust fan with a DIY carbon filter(i buy 2 ...u can never have enough :D)

passive intakes at the bottom

so what do u think about the blueprint i made ;D(i know my paint skills suck) my thought .... since i got 2 108cmh fans .... i could use a 250w hps and cool it with the 2nd fan blowing across it to the exhaust
