I would have rented a snake and done it myself.
If I called someone, I would never have gone out on a limb with a stupid story and "act" like that.
Clean up, take down all lights and cords, show the guy the problem, talk about the problem only(like, "you see this kind of thing often?")
He may have had no idea you were growing at all till you started in with that unnecessary story.

You should have never mentioned the grow shit. People do not walk around with preconceived notions that this guy is a grower and that one is not etc. They just walk around and want to do their job and go home, who cares about anything else.
I was an electrician before I retired. I owned my own electrical service company LLC. I would occasionally do service calls. I went on a service call for tripping breakers. I got there, there were all these college kids living in this house. They were all girls. They were all running around half naked talking stupid stuff to us and just being girls etc........
So I am checking out stuff and fix this and fix that, fix a few broken lights(people must have swung from the lights) broken switches, a few broken off light bulbs in sockets etc...... So I got everything on the list marked off and everything is cleared and working normal..
So they mention the basement circuit is tripping as well. I go down there and I am checking stuff out, moving stuff around check this check that, turn the breaker on and after a few seconds.... bam it trips.....you can tell it does not trip immediately but after a few seconds like there is a huge load on it and it surges and BAM there goes the breaker. So I am like.....what the hell do you have plugged into this? I am walking around checking this and checking that. I find an extension cord plugged into this one receptacle behind a sofa, I start following the cord and it goes over to this big "looks like a European closet" cabinet and the cord goes in there. I am like Hmmmmmmmm WTF........(never thinking it is a grow cabinet) I open it up and it is covered with mylar there are mothers on the bottom and flowering plants on the top (IT WAS A GROW CABINET).............took me totally by surprise......the chick was freakin when she came down and saw me looking at it.
I said I FOUND your problem. LONG Silence..........
I was like I can fix this problem for an additional $150.00........she said uh oh uh ummmm uh oh.....you can? How is that? I said it is easy. I will run you two 20 amp circuits and set you two dedicated 20amp GFI protected outlets right here so you can plug them in and get rid of the extension cord and multi plug strip. It was in an unfinished area behind the cabinet, so I ran this stuff up and hooked them up and she was so happy. Two 20a breakers, 80 feet of 12/2 wire, two 20a GFIs, two 20.5 cu in boxes, two GFI plates. She gave my helper a bag of weed, I told I did not smoke but thank you. She paid me the 150 cash and gave me the landlord check for the service call and off we went. I never told where or showed anyone the house and never will. My helper had no idea where he was at, he was along for the ride.
You see. I am a smoker and a grower, I was not thinking this chick is a grower even when I found the extension cord and it ran to the cabinet. I was SHOCKED when I opened the cabinet.
Anyways.......glad you got your SHIT taken care of and hopefully the........old spanish guy....... did the same as me....the old white guy....did and just never mentioned it again or its location.
PS....even after you dry everything up and it looks good. Set your fans or dehumidifier in the area where the water was. There is SO much extra humidity and moisture in that area that still needs to be moved and ventilated. It does not matter how much bleach you used, it still might mold in the future.

i wouldnt say shit about a grow ever . instead fire up a joint as a cover smell . smoke it while the guy is there. just say your medicinal and no big deal. do you really think a plumber would call the cops over a guy smoking a joint? not likely

You used a SNAKE that anyone can buy from homedepot or lowes that the rotorooter guy is going to use when he gets there? I would damn sure have one if I was grower.

there was certain things i could not cover up...like the 10in intake filter sticking out through the drywall, power cords, timer box, i only had enogh time to take out all the plants...
i think i played it pretty well....all they saw was an empty tub that had been coverted to a CFL mother chamber...shit was small. im sure they know some guys growing 10 lights this is the bay area!

like i said...if i had known about cleanouts and plumbing (which my ignorant ass didnt)....i probably could have saved myself the plumber visit....
not much i can do at this point....only saving grace is that this is a med state so not worried about police, mostly rippers... and all my eggs are not in one basket here.....if anything happens here it would just be a minor setback in the long scheme of things, i dont want to loose all my hair worrying about if this guys gangbanger sons want to rob my house now.....
but really, i think im lucky in the long scheme of things.....people in the deep south right now have their entire houses flooded and no plumber can fix that shit....i was angry and pissed off last night so i had to vent, those people living off the mississippi deserve more attention....

did the guy tell you what blocked your line? if it is roots you are going to keep having problems. all those good nutes can attract a tree's attention and it won't give up. i pump the nutes into the back yard to avoid those problems. IMHO it is better than pouring hardcore shit down the drain every 3 months to control the roots and the back yard loves the leftovers.
Oh damn dude, that sucks! Hope it all works out, shop vacs for the win! Whenever I have a bad spill or flood, I hook it up to the garden hose drain on the back of the vac and bring in another hose to wash/rinse the floor. The vac just sucks it up and spits it outside, like a motorized toilet! lol. Good luck amigo.

I had the Air conditioner Guys out last week. When I had them out last year I about freaked ( I have a large grow box in my garage ) and I turned of all the power so you couldn't hear the Fans, etc.
This time I just walked to the unit, stood there and let him change the filter ( I don't think he even looked around ). The real work was outside replacing the motor on the compressor.
I'm a California Collective, now I don't sweat it.
I don't think you will have any problems.

The tool dag linked is handy. If any future clog is post-trap, you can go under the floor and pull the plug. You better get upstream first, lol. Then you can use a pvc pipe, snake, etc, much easier.
