A/C Question

Hello. I finally bit the bullet and decided to buy an air conditioner to cool my 10'x5'x6'6" tent. This tent is located in my garage and I live where the summer can get to 110 degrees. I already have my exhaust running through a carbon filter and venting outside through a pre existing vent to outdoors.

The A/C unit is a portable 8K BTU with dehumidifier. My question is, should I throw the air conditioner inside the tent to cool off during the summer or should I have it outside the tent and just vent it into the tent? If I leave it outside to vent into the tent, is the A/C unit powerful enough to shove air in there or do I need to use an inline fan on top of it. And if I should put it inside the tent, I am still going to need to have an intake which would be warm air. Basically, I am looking for the best way to incorporate the A/C unit into the setup I have running. Thanks for your input!

A portable AC goes inside the room/tent. I don't know how many lights you plan on running but if it gets that hot in the summer then that 8k btu portable isn't gonna do much...

hi all, IMHO portables r a ripoff because they don't perform well, they dont last very long, and lastly most just can't hold up to the continuous duty a grow show puts on them.

now that my position on portables is clear................. i used to use em myself so i am speaking from experience!!
i would highly suggest you reconfiguring to a mini-split allowing sufficient BTUs for your needs ( say 3 to 5 thousand BTUs per 1000 watts of lighting) depending on your other
heat management techniques you employ.
to better answer your direct question i would place the unit within the grow space like suggested above. BTW most portables evaporate the condensed water from the evaporator section by using the hot/warm condenser coils and the exhaust airstream to remove the vapor. the problem with this is you are using a carbon scrubber to clean this moisture laden air!!!! that moisture will clog the "pores" of your carbon media and make your filter nearly worthless. you would be much better off scrubbing the air within the space itself as i believe the filter would perform much better that way!!
Good luck and budget for a better (not portable) A/C setup as your portable is gonna fail sooner than later.
