First Grow(Day 9 Flower)

For low to moderate odor, people have also had good results with the ONA products, either the liquid or gel depending on how you want to use it. Before I got my carbon filter added to my ventilation, I used ONA gel and it worked pretty good. I just put it where my exhaust was blowing out and it seemed to eat all the smell. My house smelled like fresh linen instead of skunk :)

I still need to do something about the wonderful aromas. I spent a long while looking into it and it seems a decent fan and carbon filter are the only thing for it if you want to guarantee no smell. Depending on how many more grows you plan to do it may work out cheaper than ONA gel in the long run and would certainly give better peace of mind. I like the smell; gutting that most of us have to hide it.

I love the smell too, but in many places leaving the smell unchecked can bring unwarranted attention.

Sorry Moots, I live in Canada and I don't know of any retail places that sell ONA. Walmart MIGHT have it, but I'm not sure. I ordered mine online from Progressive Growth's website.

If there are any hydroponics or janitorial supply places near you either of them would probably carry it.

I really agree with Supernatural though. If smell is a big concern for you then a carbon filter is the way to go. The ONA stuff is best left as a temporary or emergency measure IMHO.

Hey all, no updates as of late, big huge wind storm in our area, blew over tons of trees and such, and thus knocked out my internet for almost a week and a half.

Plant is coming along at quite a clip. It is looking like harvest time cometh soon.

Weird thing, the bigger bud, on the right in the photos, is considerably more dense/hefty than the others(as you can see), about 3/4 weeks into flower, I did an experiment(may have already been done elsewhere), I topped off about a half centimeter (very little) of the top of that bud, I wanted to see if, like topping, the bud would grow more chunky and less tall. It stopped growing into a peak, almost immediately. And since it has been puttting on the most heft. I'll have to retry this bud topping, see if it works again.

Here is some pics. Next update, I am going to outline my whole grow in detail.

2 tops are hidden behind the big guy on the right.

I think you can see all the tops just slightly here

Here`s some up close trich formations.

Next update will likely be harvest time. I don`t expect a huge yield, but am hoping to reduce some of the cost of buying from a dealer.

Thanks

In my last grow I had one girl stretch up and touch a light, maybe about 3 or 4 weeks into flowering. It was during her stretch and I left her too close to the light, not realizing how much she would grow in one day. Lots of browning where she had touched, and I think it killed the growing tip of the bud. After she recovered the bud got thicker like yours. I think it actually accidentally fimmed her. When I harvested her, the bud was bigger and thicker than all the ones around her. When I broke the bud apart to smoke it, I discovered that it had actually turned into 3 smaller colas, all growing together.

Once I get a little more growing experience under my belt I'm probably going to experiment more with fimming during flowering. It seemed like it actually increased the yield from that one plant. Sounds like you may have accidentally done the same.

Thats what actually prompted me to top that bud. It had stretched quite a bit, and many of the very top pistils had browned due to being too close to the 40 watter. So I trimmed it off.

It's interesting, and compelling that we both saw increased bud size production from the same issue.

Just convinced a friend to top one of his buds. Will see how it goes.

Yeah, compelling indeed. Also, I didn't mention it but the bulb mine grew into was a 40 or 42 watter too (can't remember which, I had both in the cab).

Well it's day 40 something. A few days ago, my fiance told me she switched the lights over to 12/12 8-9 days before I had asked her to. (I was out of town for 2 weeks, and she judged it perfectly, stretch stopped just an inch or two from the box top)

So it is probably more like day 50ish. Kind of sucks because I was trying to keep a detailed ACCURATE record of this grow offline, on paper.

Well, point of the post. Had to harvest the runt branch. It is by far the smallest of the bunch, and only maybe half the size, if that, of the biggest. All of the other branches have pretty uniform Trich situations. This branch was well past the rest though, so chopped it before the trichs started to degrade too much.

Sorry for the shitty pic.

Wet weight, with stem 9.3.g. There are 6 branches total, including this one. The others with more heft. I definitely won't hit a gram per watt, but should be in the .6 - .7 GPW range. Hoping all the branches together will pass the 25-30 gram dry weight but it'll be close.

Next run, I'll have more branches, and a better nute schedule, so I should be able to increase yield quite a bit.

I read an "Ask Ed" article one time where someone asked him if there's a way to tell how long a plant has been flowering if you can't remember or don't know the exact day it was flipped to 12/12. He said that a good rule of thumb is to take the first day you saw pistils and go back 10 days to get the first day of flowering. In most cases it's pretty accurate. After I read it, I went back and looked at a couple of my grow logs, and in most cases it was correct within a day or two. Hope that helps some.

I was gunna say, Wow thats alot of pistil growth @ day 9 but you confirmed it first.

Looks good man! GREAT JOB!

Been a while. Working alot. I don't know what was up with that one branch I cut, or why all the trichs turned amber so quickly, but the other branches are still only showing an amber trich here and there.

Not complaining though, they have been packing on the mass, especially the bud that was topped early by the light, and the 2 I topped shortly after.

Just two pics today.

Whole plant, the branch in the fore front was the one that took light damage and was topped.

Here's a close up on that branch, with a large bic lighter for thickness reference. I am pretty happy with the chunkiness, definitely surpassed my expectations

Looking awesome mang. My Shiskaberry would turn into warclub buds like that.

Have you started to flush yet?
