i was at wal mart and noticed the burpee seeds are $1.00 a pack and the "organic" burpee was $1.50, with all the organic guys around here i would imagine i would have heard them touting "organic" cannabis seeds if it made a difference, any thoughts?

Absolutely makes a difference in the health and quality of the seeds I believe, but I don't think the seeds should cost 1/3 more. There are simply far more elements & life force driving relationships in well amended natural ORGANIC soil than can be had using synthetic salt based fertilizers and like organic fruit & veggies, organic milk, organic meat & various other naturally grown goods I feel organic seeds seem like the best bet as far as I can see in keeping with the quality that nature and God intended. :canabis:

If you are an organic Cannabis grower, would you not want organic Cannabis seeds? ;)

If you don't mind shopping at WalMart or paying Burpee money, I doubt you'll care what kind of seeds you buy ;)

if they had mr nice or dj shorts at walmart, i would prob buy them, its easy to "boycott" walmart when you have a bunch of other corporate options, for me boycotting walmart equals supporting oil companies and driving a couple hours

I plant my own seeds. They're organic and free!

I buy mom n pop as much as I can, and really think it's best to support the underdog before the big guy.

It's easy to understand locale vs. options so all the more reason to keep stock and possibly even sell it to your community.

Just remember to harvest seed this fall and you won't have to buy them.

I still get new varieties once in a while but I buy them from a local shop... not a corporation!

FWIW Burpee isn't a corporation, it's a privately owned company.

WalMart on the other hand is an evil too dark to mention.

The other thing is how can a plant or crop be organic if it did not come from organic seeds to start with? Just a thought. :canabis:

In my expirence Organic seeds have a longer shelf live. Make a harder shell. and keep there germenation power longer. (that is with cannabis seeds)

I find it strange they should be any difference if there grown correctly. I swapped back from Organic gardening to ordinary after not seeing a difference and paying three times the price for the soil.

Were you using soil additions every year? I sustain my garden with compost and worm poo. Once in a great while I'll add some bone meal to it.

Organic gardening is sustainable, you shouldn't use much if any new soil from year to year...

If you couldn't tell a difference in the produce, I'd urge you not to spend more than you need... but in my case if I wasn't organic in my outdoor garden, I'd pay much much more.

Organically produced seeds are healthier for the environment and the people that feed on them. At fritillary seeds that's our starting point. Likewise soil additives and nutrients are often freely available when growing organically and sustainable. Where possible we always aim to source seeds from organic gardeners for these reasons.

Other than the smaller capacity with organic growers producing seeds at present, there is little reason however why organic seeds should be more expensive at retail than those which are mass produced (often with the aid of expensive chemicals).

Ignore the label and look towards content.

Hope this helps

interesting debate
thinking the seed being more money is simple marketing.
since we get more for organic food, lets try to get more for the seed to...

I dunno about the harder shell thing but REv and I talked about this and he's adamant that organically grow seeds have a much longer shelf life like Karma said. His bean company name is KOS or Kingdom Organic Seeds.

well fall for marketing bullshit and pay more . while i dont know about shelf life everything else is the same. i compared organic to regular seeds in my greenhouses years ago. no difference except price .

The last major bean run I made were grown organically in amended soil at the time with Pure Blend Pro nutrients and nice clean water, no added synthetics. They still germinate at very high rates and are nearly 9 years old (kept in fridge) while I have bought seeds from others that have very low to no germ rates after just a few years. Coincidence? :canabis:

If you are making seeds and have the option to go Organic that should be the only choice I think unless you just don't give a shit. Some of us do though! :good:
