Clearly this thread is about preferences, but may I add some thoughts unrelated to preferences and directed more toward medical efficacy?

Even though we have a Chinese mini-washing machine with bags, and our home made Grinning Reaper vibratory dry siever, most of our extraction is oil of one form or another.

Even most of our bubble and dry sieve has ended up as oil.

That is not because both bubble and dry sieve are not delightful in and of themselves, but because we make more oral or topical meds, than meds for vaporization.

Our oral meds have achieved pain relief and disease recovery results not remotely approached by anyone's vaporization meds, because the two are really apples and oranges.

For instance, not everyone's lungs will tolerate vaporization or smoking and even though it may now, it may not as time passes.

Vaporization of full melt or oil significantly reduces the insult to our lungs and bronchial passages, but even that sometimes produces coughing fits amongst some.

Oral meds do not produce the same euphoric head effects as vaporization, though they are in general uplifting to the spirits and far more effective for pain. Topicals just seem to take away the pain.

Personally I'm glad our individual tastes do vary so much, or us men folk would have killed each other off over the same woman a long time ago.

hhhmmm?

hhhmmm?

hey guys, bump

I was wondering if refluxing ground-up bud with hexane would be a better extraction than just soaking at room temp?

I noticed with a extraction done with a soak at room temp for 24 hours flowers still have most of the little trichome "stalks" in place, trichs are gone, but the semi-clear little stalks that the trichomes "rest on" for a lack of a better term are still in place. and the ones that do come off end up getting filtered or settled out.
What the bloody hell are those things?? do they have any medical value? or any thc for that matter?
thanks alot

OH YEAH, and thats some clean looking oil ya got there bro!

I have never refluxed raw plant material with hexane, though I have done cold extractions with it and use it extensively cleaning up and in alchemy.

With the longer six carbon chain, it is less polar and less water soluble than butane with only four, so I predict that it would do a maximum extraction with low pickup of undesirables.

Since it is so forgiving, I have done cold soaks up to 12 hours and still gotten honey colored oil.

As Jump noted, the stalks that look like wet fur under the microscope are depleted. It is any remaining bulbous heads that we are scoping for.

thanks graywolf, I will be trying it out and letting you know the results. I will either reflux or just use hot hexane for the extraction, also was wondering about using hexane to isomerize with? hhmmm....

Yep, we isomerize in hexane.
