Sorry man, I couldn't tell you. I do use a couple of cheapass batwings, but never a parbolic (save for a DIY cfl mini-reflector).

Striclty off-hand, I'd say the adjusta-wing was designed for a wider or smaller footprint and because of the open ends would let out heat a bit easier. But, I don't see it penetrating any further than a parabolic, and maybe less so.

Wish I could have been more help!

I have a picture saved on my computer that shows 8 different shaped reflectors and their light distribution. but after looking closer at it every light they use is a different wattage. which makes it kinda hard to compare intensity. It shows the shapes of the distribution at least. I can post it up if you want. (can you save pics directly to ICmag? or do I need a host?)

I say if you have the room for it forget the reflectors all together and go vert :D

Assuming that you are using a HPS lamp with a flat (not vert) grow a large adjust a wing will give better penetration with higher intensity with a 4'x4' footprint. parabolic reflectors work best in situations where you want an overall lower intensity but a larger spread of light
