white vs. metal reflective tents

are the white tent interior less reflective than the metal mylar? if so, does this mean the the metal mylar would increase interior temps?

I just cant have added heat given the summer is coming...plus
Im in desperate need to increase my 4x4 veg to a 4x8. i dont really want to spend more than $300 on a 4x8 tent so im pretty limited given the Jardin is insanely expense though im sure it lives up to it's means.

a guy on clist is selling a used hydro hut for $300 so i might just do that.

White film (known here as 'Panda Film') is not as reflective as mylar, I forget the figures but I think it's something like 90% for Pandafilm (the 150micron type) and 98% for Mylar, regarding heat - I don't think the reflective film would have much of an influence on heat personally but I might be wrong (obviously if your using the pandafilm on the wrong side, the black would heat up etc..), if anything the more reflective the cooler it should be!? Heat is coming off the globe itself.... Hope this helps! TTK

GreenDuck, I have a 4x4 Jardin and its pretty nice. I am looking forward to hearing what you go with, and how you like it, as I need a 4x8 soon too.

thank guys, i appreciate the response.
good to know the mylar isnt that much more reflective...true if it does reflect, there's less heat on the walls per se...but ambient heat within the tent may rise!? i dont want to have to place a dehu and a/c in there. oh summer! haha

there is an option that i just build walls, just two cause im using the back of the garage. this way i could then expand the main flowering room (down the line) its just so easy to place a tent and waaallaa!! lol ill let you know of the final purchase.

Mylar is more reflective but i must say having swapped to a mylar tent there seems to be no difference in yield.

You'll be happier if you build a box.

That said, be careful of CL tents. Most of them, especially if they come in white, are older models. Many of them have offgassing issues, and most of them are not fitted with the double sock ports that the new ones have. Therefore, you end up spending $45 bucks special ordering their old flange kits, and negate the savings from going used.

I got fucked on one because I didn't know what I was looking at. Do the research, come armed with model numbers and a list of undesirables, and you'll do OK. Try and quick fix a tent via CL and you will get bent over, though.

thanks sam, im definately considering building a box/room that i can expanding into the next room adjacent to it. its cheaper to build and then use some white mylar.

You'll curse a box like that a lot less than you will a tent. That's a big deal kind of upgrade IMO.

GD, your heat issues mainly come down to your ventilation - lamp size, fan size, where you venting from & to etc. Building an expandable box (custom build) IMO is always better, but then you have things you need to deal with such as light leaks, transportability should you move house/appartment etc. If you are leasing the house/apartment your in, then I would probably consider a tent over building a box. If the garage is steel and not insulated then I would also try to get something as high as possible, and try to get air from outside, and pump it back outside - steel sheds that are not insulated get damn hot in summer! thanks for the info TTK. Im building a single wall to cut off the garage. 6 foot length x 8 h. ill then add that ridged insulation on the side wall and set it up so i can slide the whole sheet (a 4x8) out. its way cheaper than a tent. we are renting but taking down the wall will be simple, just screws and time. probably the same time as tent disassembly :) ill post a pic next week maybe.
