Day 14

Day 14

The stretch seems to have stopped a few days ago. They got a dose of molasses water a couple days ago and are dry again. Maybe time to hit them harder with fert and water and see how far I can push them.

everything is looking good, bro. no plans on transplanting them into larger containers? if space is a prob maybe you could get a large Tupperware container that's made for like sheet cakes so you can make a soil bed in there.

It seems like you have the right amount of far-red. Too much is a bad thing for LED setups.

I have also been reading for 4 years about LED's.

There are two people, knna....who understands much theory and weezard who understands much a lot including building. They are both really respectful, but will disagree at your own expense to your ego if you can't take the truth.

The truth is LED's can already outyield, but no one has quite done it..maybe they have?

@ Weez, thanks! it does seem to be taking longer than last time under CFL only...almost missed the title, yes theyre starting to stink! No trichomes yet though. :( Not enough to be noticable anyway.

@ muddy, thanks too! no plans on xplanting again, roots seem to stop growing or at least slows way down once the stretch stops. I do have plans for the next run in a tub which is visible in some of the earlier pics, theyre what I grow shrooms in.

I had planned on all the plants being the same size as the shortest plant in the last picture, which also shows the tallest and next shortest plant. They didnt all root at the same time but they did all stay in just peat pellets until they all rooted. I guess that was enough to get a big head start for some of them. Next run I should have that what fixed. Actually there's quite a few things I plan on doing differently next time. Had the light built and was in a hurry to give it a go. Still learning.

@ devil, thanks for the comments, i read a lot of knna and weezard before i started this, I do believe LED has already been shown to outyield, but as someone else said in another thread (sorry i dont remember who) it is probably still only economically feasible to replace up to a 400w HID...possibly a 600w.

Howzit D. G.?

Howzit D. G.?

Well, not so much, too much, as when, really.
Far red accelerates the Pf:pfr flip but is not used during the "day".
You only want it an hour before lights out and a half hour after lights out.
Some folks use it at lights-on as well, but I fail to see the logic in that.

Gots ta calls 'em da way we sees 'em, yah?:)
And thanks for the plug, but, I'm just here to learn too.

Li'l bit.
But, that's not my goal.
For yield, best look up Oldmac.

Maybe too much green light from the CFL and too much water at first. Gonna be a few grows to nail down this light and diff variables.

My ears have been burning since yesterday....now I know why!

A well designed LED light and using the proper grow technique to take advantage of them (SOG or possibly SCROG) can outproduce HPS. Not just in finished weight but more importantly the quality of the finnished product.

Hey PharaohBud  very nice light you built. I'm going to sit on your porch here with Weezard and watch the grass grow.

nice work on the DIY

I'm like kind of scared of spiders, but those jumping spiders have helped renew my love of spiders, I shot some video of one that looked just like that, less colorful though, they're little cutie pies aren't they

lol funny you should say that. the bugs are huge and sometimes the hunters become the hunted.

so here is another huntsman spider i saw the other day. i pull up in the car and see something bright moving on the road. this huge wasp caught this huge spider and draged it across the road, up a gutter & down a tree watering pipe.

i have a whole series of pictures i captured with my fone but i dont wanna fill your thread up with pictures of this shit. here is one, you get the idea
