Spider Mite control....

L

laylow

Hey Guys just wanted to share this with you...

for the last 10 years i have been fighting with mites keeping them at bay and costing my thousands over the years... ive used plant vitality... spray safe... nitenite SM.... smoke bombs... natural predators... biobizz buzz off... you name it even some fucked up cancerus "to the user" shit

then about 8 months ago i got a HotBox Sulpher pot... :dance013:

its safe to say i have been able to keep mites under control to point of almost eradication...

when i had a bad case i had it on 12 hours a day constant and it kept the fuckers in a daze like state didnt kill them all but stunted them so they didnt reproduce...

then on this run i see there was the odd 1 leaf and i mean 1 leaf in a 15ft x 11ft room so on it went on 4 hours a night while the lights are out...

safe to say now as i only have about 2 weeks left in flower that they have no ruined my crop and im sure by the next run they will be pretty much wiped out...

So you want to save thousands in products and in your yield losses??? buy a sulphur burner!!! :)

Cheers :tiphat:

Hey buddy, how are the fuckers getting into your room all the time?

I mean if I bring in new vegetation then I spray and dip it and then quarantine it and I never have mites anymore.

I have been trying to tell folks this for years! It is a tool so you have to use it properly, I've seen peeps over use them and screw their whole crop ( the U.S. mentality of more is better). For preventative maintenance I use mine once a week for only 15-20 minutes, if there is a problem then I'll increase to every other day or everyday if needed. People that have been growing in greenhouses are well aware of the benefits of learning to use one of these. Like any thing though you don't want to rely on just one form of attack to defend the Borg, I approach the battle from several different angles so the little bastards don't know where i'm coming from next! I run a continuos harvest so this is something I use with great success without having to tear everything down and start over, not an option. I've noticed that any house type spiders have taken up residency somewhere else, so bugs definitely don't like the sulfur.

They also help with Botrysis (bud mold), it changes the ph of the leaf so the mildew won't grow.

Good luck, peace

And you coat everything with Sulfur all the time, including the finished nugs.

Granted mites & mold are bad, but so is any contaminant. Agreed with first post... why is it so dirty in there all the time?

Sulfur seems to be just be another contaminant in your already contaminated room... or a band aid over a hemorrhage. Seen peeps clean a perpetually running room before (wasn't easy), but...

Well now I've been watching laylow's stadium grow and it sure doesn't look dirty.
But I seen pics of it before any plants went in and then the babies. Besides, it's a brand new setup, so I know that it's been cleaned.

I'm just curious how the bastards keep entering a clean sterile room. I mean if it was my room then everything would be cleaned and sterile before going in and the stock plants would have all been sprayed and dipped.
From that point on there should be no new vegetation entering the room that "could" be contaminated.

So there is a hiccup in the get a long someplace. Either Laylow or somebody else is bringing in hitch-hikers or the room or plants aren't being thoroughly cleaned and inspected.

I've had mites 1 time in the last 4 years cause I slacked on my rules about new vegetation: cleaning/ dipping/ spraying/ re-potting and quarantine. But they were eradicated inside of a week.

Hey stress this grow as you can see is a total brand new grow the clones were all from fresh un mited stock and all equipment was either brand new or cleaned and was in a previous grow so would have had the sulphur to kill them off....

i have no mite infestations anywhere like i said everything is super clean and as a preventive i do use spray safe every now and then as a precaution for all nastys not just mites...

then about 3 weeks ago i was watering from behind in the middle of the stadium on the top shelf 1 single leaf had mites on it.... i pulled it off and then inspected the whole room and no other mites were found... you tell me how they got there as its had me baffled....

as for the sulphur pot i use it when its needed and only up until the last 2 / 3 weeks of flower as if they are there they ante going to do any damage in the last 2 weeks.... Miway i know what your saying about contaminating my buds but i smoke my own weed and have been for a while now this C4 and i noticed nothing different from before when i didn't use it.... i have had total crop failure before and lost a Bigbud x White widow mum as i thought i had a good rooted strong cut that also had mite i dipped it in plant vitality and it just died "have done this many times with success"

i dont know where they come from i dont go in other grows i do have a dog but he goes poodle parlour and is quite clean lol.... my girl makes him go not me hahahaaa

anyway yeah the hotbox works and saves me thousands every time i switch it on....

My apologies... I've never checked the pics... the 'dirty' means to me... infected. Whenever my room has an issue (bug/mold/etc)... always just think of it as 'dirty', if that makes any sense.

And I agree Stress... it is a process that gets the room clean & maintains it as such. Every once in a while, shit gets in & the procedures & processes keep the room 'clean'. That's all that I meant.

No offense ll... my bad in language! ;-)

I think I read in you grow thread that you foliar feed twice daily?

I was thinking that if you do that next go then maybe try dissolved aspirin from the beginning. I even add 1 per gallon for watering, and I can't prove it yet but I know that it helps fight off a lot of pests by building the plants immunity. Pests really don't like my plants, or my plants just aren't as hospitable for pests as other plants typically are.
I'd even bet an aspirin feeding regime would dramatically increase yield.

Miway no offence taken at all mate we are all entitled to our opinions its what makes this places great new ideas and different perspectives... :D

Stress im allergic to aspirin so foliar feeding without a mask could really be dangerous lol...

i was hoping that this grow room would be mite free but ive seen them now when this run is done i will be on a majoy clean and paint mission im lining all the walls with reflective and new white plastic on the floor...
