Plants that size in pots that size really shouldn't need water every other day.

Shove your index finger down into the soil along the inside of the pot and check how deep it feels moist.
It should be just moist before they need water.

Are you feeding those gals?

Also in a couple of your pics it sure looks like what could be spider mite damage. Get a magnifying glass and look at the underside of the leaves.

Oh and yer kinda jumping the gun on the hps aren't you? Have you already flipped em 12/12?

Let them dry out. Go to walmart buy 2 $9.00 flourscent light fixtures then buy 4 6,500 K bulbs for them throw that on them. They are way fuckin stressed and the purple under the leaves indicate nutrient lock. Flush them with distilled water you buy at walmart. Then transplant them into gallon pots you buy at walmart. Go to a greenhouse supply store buy one bag of Fox Farms Ocean Forest mix water very little after transplanting then leave them alone. The biggest killer of seedlings. Over water. Your plants need oxygen and lots of it. Let the soil dry out good before waterings. And did I say leave em alone? No nutes or Miracle Grow Right? If not thats good. Plants need the blue spectrum of light to grow. They will still with a HPS just not very well for what you are trying to do. Let me know.

i just transplanted from dixie cups earlier today, the first two were nice root balls.
i am not giving them anything but distilled water i have some earthjuice grow and bloom but i think the moonshine mix has nutes in it its foxfarms: ocean forest, planting mix and light warrior. i dont know if i am jumping the gun they are on 18/6 i thought i would keep that till they are around 18 inches then flip it to 12/12. but maybe i am using the wrong light for veg i welcome any advise. i'll check for mites i have not seen any webbing so there cant be many

should i add the flourescent to the hps or should i replace the hps with the flourescent? how do i flush them correctly? right now i only give them distilled water. i am using the moonshine mix which is foxfarms: ocean forest, planting mix and light warrior its got some other stuff as well i got the mix from this site. should i transplant to larger containers i was planning to do that in stages to get as much root as i can?

What is your ph? Should be 5.5-6.0 max. Your plants look like their nute locked and your ph might be too high. Flush with ph adjusted water 5-6.0 and see if your plants return to normal. If they do go easy on the nutes and keep the ph in the optimal range.

Good luck,

In my opinion the hps is premature, I'ld shut it down and save the bulb and power for flower. Yeah by all means replace it with at least 2, 4' cfl's. 4 would be better though.

Your pot size is fine for now I think.

Fuck that dude.
DO NOT flush em. They are starving and damn sure don't need flushed if you just transplanted.
Those plants need good light and some micro nutes. Flushing will only make more problems at this point.

how do i test my soil ph

Capture the water that runs out of the bottom of the pots when you water and check the Ph of that.

should i get ph down or is there another way to lower the ph?
The water that runs out of the bottom of the pots should Ph around 5.5 or below.

not sure how to flush correctly
thanks for the advice
Here is what would happen in my garden:
Mix: 1/2 strength nutes/1 Tbls "Brer Rabbit" molasses/1 Tbls "Lilly Miller" Vitamin B1 plant starter/gallon water/1/2 Tbls Epsom salt/1 crushed Aspirin.

The molasses and B1 both contain chelated Iron, Manganese and Zinc and other minerals and the Epsom salt with help boost the Mg.

The chelated minerals will help uptake mobile NPK and water, and the Vit B1 will encourage new root growth.

Mix together in HOT water; nearly boiling to dissolve all the solids. I mix this on the stove with 3 cups of the water, put it in a quart mason jar w/lid and shake the hell out of it for a couple minutes and then add it back to the jug after it cools down.

Once it's mixed back into the gallon jug then adjust the Ph (if it needs it) to around 6.5 to 7 and water as usual.

To flush: (AND again I do not suggest flushing at this point.)
Take a bucket that will handle 3 times the volume of your pots and place 2 sticks across the top to set your pots on. Slowly pour clean water through the pot until you have poured about 3 times the volume through the plant and into the bucket below.
Personally I almost never have to flush using the recipe above until 2-3 weeks before harvest. It allow the plant to utilize all the nutes I give it to the fullest potential.

As Stress test points out, those are big pots and small plants that don't need frequent watering. Too many waterings discourages root growth. Also, if the surface (of those huge pots) is drying out in a few days, that says to me that you've got too much air blowing direct. Excessive forced transpiration without enough root development will make plants droop exactly like that. Trouble with over large pots is that you never know exactly where the roots are, so accurate watering intervals are all but impossible. At watering time, pots should be thoroughly soaked then not watered again until the roots are allowed to reach down. After the first watering, that might be a few days to a week, but then the interval gets shorter and shorter very fast as the plant gains momentum. No watering 'schedule' can ever meet a fast growing plants needs for more than a few days before it needs changing.

Well I run my plants @ 6.5 PH. Right now I would just stop using the HPS and use the FL. And you need to by a ph meter. I have one from Hanna Meters. I would just use regular distilled if you dont have a meter. Or if you have rain water. Wait 30 mins after it rains to collect. Or at walmart they have the blue filtered water. It typically runs at about 7.0 The way the underside of the plant looks looks like potassium def. Maybe a little phosphorus.

Visit my post and see what I did. If you look for First time grow Bubblegum serious seeds.

Cool...
I say Brer Rabbit because it is un-sulfated, any un-sulfated brand will work. There are even agricultural brands that farmers use to fertilize their fields with, that are far better but difficult to buy in small amounts.

I have to say the same thing about the B1 actually. LM also contains chelated iron, zinc and other minerals that help the plant uptake mobile nutrients and carry them to where they are needed in the plant. So again I recommend LM brand because I know what is in it, but any similar product with the same ingredients would surely work.

And this is the trap we fall into in the infirmary: Based on the given information and pics, I gave a suggestion and a solution based on my experience of what always works for me.
But if you change my recipe then is it really the same remedy?

I know what works for me and shared it with you all. Now it's up to you to take that information and make it work for you. But don't come back and say that my remedy is shit if you swap out key elements and ingredients of the diet.

my soil ph is 6.7 i used a digital soil tester (i could find no water tests exept for pools and they wont work) when my soil drys out a bit should i try to lower it a bit (lemmon juice maybe?) is there a conversion between soil ph and water ph or are they the same or are they parallel i am having a hard time finding that info?
