Can I reduce a 6" Reflector to 4" Vortex?

Im thinking of getting a really nice Reflector, one that has a 6" exhaust port. It will be combined with a 400w bulb and digital ballast. I have a 4" Vortex that I wanna use for cooling. Can I use a 6 to 4 reduction fitting and use my trusty Vortex to cool the hood? Will reducing the ducting cause problems? It will be only used for cooling the hood, not for scrubbing air? I will use my TD-150 attached to the phresh filter for that.
This will all be put into a Homebox S.

WOOHOO:jump: THANK YOU for the speedy response.. I am really glad to hear this, made my day cause now i don't have to buy a 6" fan, got me some extra cash to spend on the hood.

Im thinking of this reflector http://www.ehydroponics.com/xxxtreme-6inch-hood.html
Now that you guys said yes to the reduction for cooling only, can I, could I, use the 4 " vortex to cool and scrub the exhaust? I can then use the TD-150 fan for another tent if I can. Or is it better to run one fan cooling and another fan exhausting the room like I plan on doing.

yes as long as the CFM is capable of handling the added load. Many use this cobo so they only need 1 in line to cool and scrub. Anything that you exhaust from the room needs to be scrubbed.

Thanx for the reply's guy's. After reading more about ventilation I am more confidant than ever that this tent is gonna be the bomb. I picked up a 6" Cool Tube from the local shop. Now I have both Horizontal AND Vertical capabilities, hehe.. Im gonna run the 4" vortex on a speed controller and dial that tube in perfect. Also grabbed a Phresh 4" x 12" rated for up to 200cfm. Never used a phresh before , but I have read good reviews on them, hope they kill that stench, lol Thanx again for the help :)

In a system with mixed duct fitting sizes, I would try to run the largest diameter as much as is practical, example:

instead of:
4"scrubber > 4" duct > 4" in-line > 4" duct > 4"-6" reducer > 6" hood > 4"-6" reducer > 4" duct

try:
4"scrubber > 4" duct > 4" in-line > 4"-6" reducer > 6" duct > 6" hood > 6" duct

The upside is that you'll have less resistance and need one less reducer, the downside would be that you'll need multiple sizes of ducting.

AK-51 , That makes sense, Im using as much 6" duct as I can. Im pulling air in from the outside into 6" ducting all the way to the vortex where the 6 ta 4 reducer is. My phresh is attached directly to the S&P td100 i have, its on its own 4 " duct. I only scrub the tent, not the cooltube.

I only scrub the tent, not the cooltube.
Cool, that's kind of how I'm running too. I pull air from a clean source, run it through the hood, then exhaust back out to the same area. That air should never mix with the stinky air except for maybe very small leaks in the duct system, should be insignificant though. The scrubber inside my tent just exhausts outside the tent.
