setting up shop in Michigan

Couldn't agree with you more. But, shit shows up everywhere and it's not always expected.

As for Rick... So what you're basically saying is that you think only the people with money should be able to have access? Do you honestly think that $20 a gram is a fair price? lol... That's black market pricing, just like they've been doing in all the other med states for so long now. Sorry, but I think that's highway robbery. A lot of the people who were really pushing the law were all about patients being able to have safe, uninterrupted access to meds. I don't know about you, but living on a fixed income I could only afford about 2g's a week myself and that's not enough to get me through a day comfortably. Even when I do have the extra cash I feel like I should have gotten a reach around and a few kisses for paying $400 a oz. People can't afford prescription meds at a few hundred a month even with insurance. What makes you think that those same people can afford $800-1600 a month for pot?

:

I understand where you are coming from my friend. However you cant grow the best meds and sell them at a much lower price, considering all the time and money that goes into making the best buds around. Its not like I can grab some dirt from the backyard throw it in a pot and expect to have $20 a gram meds.

Not sure about your situation, but nutes/soil/electricity/time dont come cheap. Thats why if it is going to truly be medical, the state government needs to come up with some form of subsidizing for the growers.

Grew some white rhino in 2 and 15gal containers in scotts soil from home depot. Used about 1/4 bottle of each of a three part GH. About 60 a month in electric for 2 400w lamps. Nothing I've come across since the med revolution here in michigan can even come close - a lot of it is the genetics. I agree that people should be compensated, not saying that at all. But $10 joints add up too quickly for most when you need 3 or 4 a day to keep you comfy.

Exactly! That is a small operation not meant for production. How will you supply your patients and the dispensaries with your 800w of light?
If your complaining about the prices, and your a member of the IC community then how about taking your own advice..........

Don't come here stay far far away. Mi sux unless all you do is grow. If you can afford a small warehouse and all the lights to fill it then by all means move away but if your just a newbie or a basement grower good luck finding the pot of gold!

why do you say that? Can you elaborate? I'm not disagreeing, rather inquiring.

I imagine unique strains of good cannabis will have no problem selling anywhere. You could walk into the heart of the cannabis capital of the world in Humboldt somewhere and get a healthy donation if your shit is great.

Considering a LB can sell for 3k-4k in MI: the cost of nutes, soil, and electricity are not that expensive. The hard part is getting the money to start everything up. Lights, hoods, AC ect. I think you're over exaggerating a bit.

Dont forget about time. It dosnt come cheap. Bottom line, respect the price of great meds, or dont use cannabis.

Thanks for the dose of sanity. I started a thread a while back about this, but it got deleted, no explanation. I was considering a move to MI, money is not the problem, but I am in doubt, wondering what the state government is going to do to the laws there. Also wondering what the coming conservative takeover in Washington in 2012 is going to do the the MMJ scene for the whole country.

I am thinking it might be better to never get your name on a list showing involvement in MMJ at all.

One who makes excessive profits on goods in short supply.
intr.v. prof·it·eered, prof·it·eer·ing, prof·it·eers
To make excessive profits on goods in short supply.

Been quite a few profiteers over the years who ended up in jail or worse, at the end of a rope. What makes a pot farmer so special?

And what happened to my post about pricing/etc?

Don't worry friend this guy is nutz & all he does is complain. Nothing of value ever comes out of his posts.

Didnt mean to offend anyone, Just venting I guess. Economy is the main issue here! Yes being legal is great but most cities around me (Detroit Metro) are still anti marijuana. There are some cities where it is still illegal to buy even papers let alone grow. State law is state law but I guess its up to each individual city if they want to listen. As of now Michigan is more concerned about laying off police, ems, and firefighters because these cities are broke. But have the money to fight these medical marijuana laws. If you live in the "green zone" your ok but if not then look out. We have a very bumpy road ahead of us. On the plus side our hockey team kiks ass.

Hey phil. Not to sure about the situation in Calhoun, but definitely try and stay away from Livingston county, home of the KKK, and several towns/cities within Livingston have banned medical marijuana.
