Greetings Chiefs and Chieftans.

I am trying to maximize my rooms space and am going to turn 1/3 of my space into Vert. As a little trial. Can you please share your opinions on whether you think this will be feasible.

I have about 25 plants to play with, a good stretching plant.

Space is 4 ft. wide X 12 ft. long. I want to hang 4 600watts evenly spaced inside the corridor. The plants will be in 5 gallon smart pots, in a row of about ten plants on each side of bulb.

My concerns are that;

A. The bulbs will be in the middle of a 2ft walkway, leaving only 1 ft. on each side of the bulb, between the plants and the heat from the bulb. Is this far enough?

B. The plants will be about 4.5- 6 feet tall after stretch, but will only be ONE row deep. Could that be OK?

Thanks for your assistance folks. Doing lots of reading round here which has gotten me to the point of having these questions.

No love folks?

Let me simplify.

is 4ft wide, wide enough to do 600 W vertical. ? 4 x 600 . One row of plants on opposite sides of the bulb?

Thanks:wave:

Wsup bro.
I think its possible. Considering you have temps and ventilation in order. I run 4oo's with less than 3 ft of width, so 6oo's in 4ft should be no problem.
You're gonna have to keep the plants pretty well trained with only 4 ft to work with. If you can manage to keep the plants against the walls, and not falling into the lights, you should be golden. 4 x 6oo can get you a nice pile of bud.

Maybe growing trees in a 4x4ft space need a revamp.

One possibility is to scrog in the shape of a sattelite dish or a U shaped Scrog.

Another possibility is to use smaller plants maybe 2 footers and a do a poor boy stack.

Or Think sideways like the omega gardens, since your limited by width.

Also you could do a sort of bleacher like grow kind of like laylows and others but alot smaller

Good luck

Split the room in half run on a flipflop, 1 stadium setup with 2 600s per side. Run the plants parallel to the 4 foot wide area and you'll have 6 foot side to side space for the stadium.

Thank you Marlo. I saw your recent style of securing a screen to a wall and then pipe cleanering the branches to it. This single row stadium would have one lengthwise wall and could be used in that way. Seems like the only way in could work in fact. Love the thought of that wall covered in a tapestry of sticky flowers.:blowbubbles:

Yeah i get what your sayin Centrum. Two shaped like this <>
That poor boy is sweet looking. Lot of root space for such a small footprint. I am limited in the numbers of plants i can and do grow, so something like the U shaped scrog would work.

Forkup thanks for the ideas. I like the thought of turning them sideways, as i was stuck thinking in the cage that is my mind:tiphat: That would enable I to keep the plants a bit further from the bulb and/or
I don't quite understand the flipflop method as i already own the ballasts, i don't mind pulling down the harvest at once, and i don't want to construct more walls inside my 13x13 chamber.

Me I don't have as much space as I would like and run into the problem of plants getting to close to the bulb. To help maximize space I transplant my 2.5quart container to a 5 gallon smart pot but on one edge of the pot. Instead of centering the plant in the smart pot I put it on the edge and then trim train it that way tell I move it over. When I move my plants over they are all small rectangles.

Now someone might tell you reasons why you shouldn't do this but I have found it adds precious inches into my canopy space.

Compost that is ingenuity right there! Great idea. Its picking up tips like that from fellow growers that eventually adds up into dialed performing results. Thanks for sharing that.

I had a similar situation ala in a 4x10 (approximately) space.

I wanted to switch that space to vertical after seeing the results in this forum however, after doing tons of research into 4x4 grows on this forum, i decided not to.

Although there are 4x4 vert shows here with decent results, they all as others have said, require a ton of training and would be very busy. When you get into narrow, but long spaces , access can be a pain in the ass for my setup as well.

if wattage were my limiting factor , id consider the vertical setup more, however, because space is the limiting factor (aka i want the most bud out of a given space possible), i opted for horizontal 1000 watters.

I would not be able to fit 1k's vertical in my setup but i may be able to squeeze in 600's as your considering. However, in he end, the yields of the horizontal 1000 watter with 6 plants per light over a 4x4 table yields me more than a 600 watt vert would..

that being said, please keep us updated as to what you're doing

ZOR your making all kinds of sense. I am thinking along those lines. I already have 6ooo horizontal in the space and am leaning towards just doing another 3 1000 watters over a 3x12 space. As with you light is not my limiting factor and i have grown accustomed to my automation.
Of course i will just be wondering what if, until i do it!
