What's new

The Shire 2k

Hello IC...

Decided to start this journal late, but here it is. All comments and suggestions are welcome...

Running Hericules in 5 gal buckets, started out with a full tent, Lost 6 due to light leak 3 weeks into flower. Remaining girls just starting week 6. Suppose to be a 9-10 week strain.

Burning 2k with x1 1k super lumen HPS, and x1 1k MH. Temps 75, 8" 800 cmf air with Phresh filter. Sunshine #4 with xtras, and complete Techanflora line.

Half the room was done in with a piss-poor scrog net (truck box net) as we were unable to get the lighter garden trellis intime.
Not having much to anchor the hooks to, it was impossible to install the opposite sides net as it would have not allowed access into the center of tent.

Taken at lights off...

thats it for now

nice!

look like one of my 2k tent run but better of course :D

keep us posted with the yield, pics, info and all that jazz ...

cheers,
red.

Thanks for stopping in Red....

Cant count how many times I've referenced your own work :)

Looking forward to next round already, really need to get more serious with the training, hopefully get a proper trellis...

Thanks for the support...

No ac, as outside temps have been cololer for winter/spring, using mother natures own...

6" 450 cfm fan bring in air thru fresh air intake, which is thermostatically controlled to cool the room outside the tent to about 66F on a good day. Tent air is exchanged into adjacent room.

8" fan is also hooked up to thermo inside tent, to keep @ 75F... Both fans run almost constant...

Running the dual spectrum puts the room about 5-6F cooler.

With x2 HPS bulbs, temps were into the mid 80's...

Looking to get portable ac for summer, but at that point Ill stack and cool tube the lights... Use the 6" fan for the cooltubes, and the power saved on the 8" running constantly will be used towards the ac...

Lost 1 more girl to the Herm side... last one in the row that i took out, must have missed it before, rechecked everything else, getting stickkkkkkkkky...

This run is ******s Hericules..

The shire is what i call the tent because you have to be the size of a hobbit to move around in there....no offense to any little people out there...

This is the first run with this setup, so not sure on the yield...

Was hoping for the 4-6# range, but shit's what happens when you make plans i guess... lost 1/4 of the girls to hermie...

Light leak was severe enough...

Had an "accident" resulting in a large tear in tent...taped it up and thought that was good...wrong. Tore a top corner of the tent as well which didnt get seen until after the fact...I believe that was the culprit...

Lost the front row, moved the read right forward up to the light... will have more pics soon.

Day 38 Update...

Switched out the MH, running dual HPS now, all the buds closest to the MH seem to be bit smaller, but definately frostier...

Rigged up a DIY runoff tray, 2x4 sides on plywood, double wrapped in poly with edges sealed with caulking. The far side is about 1.5" higher then the other, runoff travels down tray into 5 gal bucket placed on end. it works...

Long question....

Wondering what you guys think about feeding in Sunshine #4... posted a question in the nutes section, but not many views. Now following a water, water, feed schedule with watering every 2 days. 1 feed every 6 days @1200 ppm.

No signs of burning. Every 4th or 5th drink of just water they get about 15% runoff. Other then that I never give enough to get runoff. No salt problems.

Should they be getting feed nutes every other watering?

day 38

Ending Week 6... Heres some new pics @ lights out..

Did some reading about the questions I asked in the last post, definately going to kick back the nutes a bit, as runoff ppms seem to be high, some small burns on a few leaves but nothing major...

Going to adjust rear row higher for next round. Also placing the filter outside the tent and filling in the rear wall, similar to reds 8x8 plant layout...

Final count is below 14, never will i make the light leak mistake again...

Ordered beans for next round, looking forward to starting a tent full of blueberry asap...

Have a good Friday all..

laylow

hey ganja nice vert you got going here dude :D

can i make a suggestion... you said you struggled with the trelis netting and keeping it up... i see your in a tent "i grow in a couple" could you not get one of the cross bars and weve the bar in and out of the net at the top then place the bar how ever far back you want it and tie the bottom down or use weights to keep it in place while your buds grow through?

hope you understand what i mean? keep growing :)

damn dude, that's a big-ass tent, size ?? price ?

Looks real good, nice work with the thermostat/fan fresh air combo.

veg time ?

thanks for the encouragement red, interested to see what comes of this round...

Hey laylow, that sounds like a great idea, i really wasnt thinking ahead when the net got setup that way, or at that angle...Definately use that pointer for next round tho bro, thanks...

Im going to order some garden trellis like everyone else uses, as this stuff right now is too heavy with too much tension resistance when stretched out... increase the angle of the net, raise the rear row up and try not to hermie my next round too lol...

turbo, tent is 8x8, but feels much smaller :) Picked it up off ebay for under $300. Its the cheapest one but it does the job. Wish there were walls to screw shelves up to though...

4 weeks to go...
